He is a man of innocent temperament caught in the duties of bureaucracy and in a film that feeds off the vile nature of manners from greedy government officials, Fiennes is the only gentleman in the story. He falls in love with the feisty Tessa after she launches into him during a public lecture, calling the Iraq war Vietnam the Sequel.
He admits, youre right, and falls in love with his polar opposite.

Damn, you would think al-Qaeda owns a huge stake in Hollywood subsidiaries. The FBI needs to look into this.

Dang, and I was only boycotting it because of their cheap, overdone portrayal of Drug companies as part of a global conspiracy to keep the little guy down.

Another reason not to go to the movies.

Don't be too quick to discount the sinister nature of the massive pharmaceutical companies. The several ways by which they and the pharmacy benefit management companies like ExpressScripts deceive, cheat, steal, and violate RICO and civil law, from the consumer as well as health plans now have the interest of public interest groups and, heaven forbid, lawyers engaged by large employers who purchase health plans for their employees and who recognize that both groups are being victimized by the drug manufacturers and pharmacy benefit managers.

Sinister? They are, after all in bed with the evil Cheney and ChimpBush, right? Let's have Cheney whip up one of those hurricanes to send to the nearest pharmaceutical factory...:)

I've read about it; the movie I've heard has an extreme anti-drug company message.
I wonder if McCarthy wasn't right in sniffing through Hollywood for Commies.

I just read a large article in the paper the other day about films are just not making the money they were, and the industry has no idea why. I could tell them, but then, they would never listen would they?

I am quick about discounting "the sinister nature" of big drug companies. They save lives, and they give away lots of their product for free. They risk millions in R&D on some medicines that don't work. Do you want to pay them back for that? Also if lawyers are against them, I'm even more for them.
Look at your term, "victimized". That's the language of the Left. No one is forcing you to buy their products that didn't exist 20 years ago in some cases. When you're done crushing the drug companies, who is going to create the cures for the next generation?

If you have no objection to consistent violation of law, theft from the public and government, deception and slight of hand, then your rationalization for them is just fine. Oh yes, those R&D funds they risk, more than 90% of those are taxpayer funds given to the drug companies to develop new drugs. The companies are risking public funds, not their own....
Enjoy a great day captain...

If anything it is a movie showcasing how naivete and love cloud ones judgment.

I don't care to see it as I see the sinister view of pharmaceuticals as pure Moore-Chomsky-Nader old wives tales. For some reason, these evil companies who made a killing from erecting men's penises, don't want to make another killing by selling the wonder drug that will cure cancer. They are holding it back, why? Because they are pure evil? Pharms must make money. It takes 7 or more years to get a drug to market. That's why drugs are so expensive. Just another industry that lazy assed lefties like this author like to vilify.
To: aynrandfreak
Agreed. If he cared about the welfare of the American people he would be the first to demand tort reform. I can't remember the exact percentage but I believe they cost the US economy over 10% in GDP.

ONe good thing about these cheesy, leftist message films (A la "The Day after" and this thing) they all bomb at the box office.

Heh, I'm a bit of an Ayn Rand freak too. I'm sure she would hotly defend the right of drug companies to make money. Unlike the Austrians who strove to justify capitalism on its economic merits, she said "Yell to the world that you are a capitalist and be proud of it!" We have the moral high ground. I love her use of the word "looters" for socialists and interventionists.

My father was Special Agent in the FBI at that time and I can guarantee that McCarthy was right.
