The Red Cross has confirmed to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett that they had requested permission to take food and medical supplies to the Louisiana Superdome in the hours immediately after Hurricane Katrina's landfall. That request was denied by none other than Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.
Garrett appeared on Hugh Hewitt's syndicated radio program this evening to discuss the shocking revelation.
MG: Well, the Red Cross, Hugh, had pre-positioned a literal vanguard of trucks with water, food, blankets and hygiene items. They're not really big into medical response items, but those are the three biggies that we saw people at the New Orleans Superdom, and the convention center, needing most accutely. And all of us in America, I think, reasonably asked ourselves, geez. You know, I watch hurricanes all the time. And I see correspondents standing among rubble and refugees and evacuaees. But I always either see that Red Cross or Salvation Army truck nearby. Why don't I see that? The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security is directly under the command and direction of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The same Kathleen Blanco who has whined and blamed the federal government from her perch in Baton Rouge throughout this entire crisis. The same Kathleen Blanco who has stared at cameras with deer-in-headlight-glazed eyes since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The same Kathleen Blanco who, after being asked about federal help prior to landfall said, "No." The same Kathleen Blanco who rescinded Mayor Ray Nagin's order to completely evacuate the city due to dangerous conditions just today.HH: And the answer is?
MG: The answer is the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, that is the state agency responsible for that state's homeland security, told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.
HH: Now Major Garrett, on what day did they block the delivery? Do you know specifically?
MG: I am told by the Red Cross, immediately after the storm passed.
Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?
Hey, this thread will drive half the freakos over at DU onto sucide watch, or at least make depression meds the pill of the day.
My guess, and I'm from La. :-(, the certified Bush-hater didn't want 'ol George to look good.
can one commit genocide-through-incompetence?
'course, that question assumes Blanco was merely incompetent and overwhelmed by circumstances beyond her severely limited capacity to deal with, rather than motivated by concerns other than doing her [expletive] job.
With a bleach job she'd pass for Ms. Clinton.
Will she be sued?
When in danger, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. That about sums it up for Blanco. NO mayor was just chasing his tail, but he will soon catch it.
We know it is preposterous, lighten up and have some fun, make believe you are a liberal.
I noticed that also...but I think it is for this reason. They know the Truth is coming out on the Internet and they don't want anyone to start blaming the democrats for genocide, so it is time to stop the blame game.
I don't think for one minute the MSM is afraid of losing face. They are only interested in covering the dems behind.
They will say NOW is time to stop the blame game since they have most of the audience believing it's Bush's fault.
They will say "Let's Move On" it is time to stop blaming anyone and help the poor survivors.
I despise the MSM and also the democrats.
bttt
You are right, I have seen the bloviator time and again bleating with the MSM herd, until facts come out. Then he changes tack faster than a wind surfer and with a straight face denies he ever said the lie. He is a pathetic POS.
You read my mind!!!
There would be credible justification IF the evacuation plan had been implimented.
The justification would be that if the plan had been implimented AND everyone who could get out on the buses was already out, AND it was too late to send the buses back to pick up the stragglers AND the only possible way out was to walk, THEN you wouldn't want to have food and water in a place where they might think they were safe. At that point, you would want the few stragglers to attempt to walk out because it would be far safer than to remain in the city.
However, the evacuation buses were never utilized and I want to know why.
I just had this thought...Not only was the plan to rid the people who could contribute the least to the treasury of the state, but the land they were nesting on could be turned into High Rise, High Price Condo's for the Rich and Famous.
It appears they were running out of land to build on.
Could someone be that greedy to commit such acts for lucre?...Naw not a democrat.
That sounds more plausible than fear of losing votes. Shucks, what with workers going to nurseing homes and signing up senile elderly, and all the dead listed in cemetaries who needs more than that to win an election.
Just a thought...good grief...I must take my thinking cap off and go to bed. This is getting too deep even for me.
It seems anytime something happens, then it degenerates into a bunch of "love-spats."
I think the Rats are attempting to execute a plan they have had in place since right after September 11.
First of all, we need to remember the massive Rat effort made to get FEMA wrapped into Homeland Security. After the President yielded to the whines of the 911 widows (the Jersey Girls) there was still a big fight about whether or not unions would have a voice in the new department. I think the unions won on that one, if I remember correctly.
Shortly after the new department was established, the democrats started pushing the idea that the President was week on domestic security. First Hilary started saying that there wasn't enough money for first responders. Following this, Senator Graham (who was sitting on the Intelligence Committee at the time) said that the Iraq War was endangering us domestically and we weren't spending enough on Homeland Defense. Then Kerry won the nomination and we heard him griping about lack of security in the ports. This was when Berger was caught removing classified stuff from the archives.
I believe that the democrats had a plan to blame the President for the next terrorist attack. I think Graham had some sort of intelligence access that an attack was likely (remember Dick Cheney even said as much shortly after 9/11). It seems likely to me that Intelligence showed that there were plans to use a nuke through one of the ports. New Orleans seems to be the most likely spot, since it has a huge amount of infrastructure and is the largest shipping port east of the Rockies.
Well, the attack didn't happen. The President has been so aggressive in fighting terrorism that either the Islamofascists were stopped, or they chickened out.
The hurricane gave the democrats the perfect opportunity. They are executing a plan identical to what would have happened if a dirty bomb had blown up in New Orleans. They would have "sheltered" all of the poor in the Superdome to "protect" them from radiation, and then set about obstructing rescue efforts and blaming the President.
Look at how the usual suspects were immediately ready with accusations of racism. Look at how coordinated all of these attacks on FEMA are, and who is doing them.
The problem the democrats have is that if they had implemented this exact same plan after a dirty bomb attack, they might have succeeded. But with a hurricane, the element of warning and evacuation comes into play, and the state government actions prior to the arrival of the hurricane can be questioned.
I think this is why Blanco is dragging her feet to this very minute. And I think the Superdome was planned to go exactly the way it did.
I will now wrap another layer of tinfoil around my head and go make breakfast.
Blanco=Nero
Looks like the story is being ignored, even by FOX.
Drudge took down his link to radioblogger. I turn on Fox & Friends, no mention whatsoever.
This is looking to be a big cover-up. I can't understand why FOX would be ignoring their own reporter's story?
