The Red Cross has confirmed to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett that they had requested permission to take food and medical supplies to the Louisiana Superdome in the hours immediately after Hurricane Katrina's landfall. That request was denied by none other than Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.
Garrett appeared on Hugh Hewitt's syndicated radio program this evening to discuss the shocking revelation.
MG: Well, the Red Cross, Hugh, had pre-positioned a literal vanguard of trucks with water, food, blankets and hygiene items. They're not really big into medical response items, but those are the three biggies that we saw people at the New Orleans Superdom, and the convention center, needing most accutely. And all of us in America, I think, reasonably asked ourselves, geez. You know, I watch hurricanes all the time. And I see correspondents standing among rubble and refugees and evacuaees. But I always either see that Red Cross or Salvation Army truck nearby. Why don't I see that? The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security is directly under the command and direction of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The same Kathleen Blanco who has whined and blamed the federal government from her perch in Baton Rouge throughout this entire crisis. The same Kathleen Blanco who has stared at cameras with deer-in-headlight-glazed eyes since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The same Kathleen Blanco who, after being asked about federal help prior to landfall said, "No." The same Kathleen Blanco who rescinded Mayor Ray Nagin's order to completely evacuate the city due to dangerous conditions just today.HH: And the answer is?
MG: The answer is the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, that is the state agency responsible for that state's homeland security, told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.
HH: Now Major Garrett, on what day did they block the delivery? Do you know specifically?
MG: I am told by the Red Cross, immediately after the storm passed.
Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?
I read the interview. There were reasons given and one of them was that there might be a security issue. That is why I am so insistent on sworn testimony at this time.
I hope they don't find her in Fort Marcey Park.
She should be given a taster. She will sing like a canary if they corner her.
This is another reason why President Bush has been in front of the issue. He has called for an investigation, and as another poster suggested, he knows how THIS one will turn out! His people have possession of any phone messages, conversations, and e-mails. Blanco is cooked on this one.
I linked to your blog from mine cuz I like it. But I think they want blog postings to be done in the blog section.
>>Would she be desperate enough that she would allow people to die to prevent discovery of her malfeasance? I find it hard to imagine that a human being could be so callous, cold or just plain stupid to that level.<<
I doubt it. My guess is that neither she nor Nagin took the hurricane seriously. That would explain the waterlogged buses and the lack of provisions in the Superdome.
I think the storm literally rocked their world - they never in a million years thought it would do what it did. When I saw the crowds still huddled outside the convention center, literally dying, it dawned on me. "They have no plan whatsoever." I'm really perceptive that way, sometimes. ;-)
But they were typical libs, too lazy to even look for the official disaster plan, and probably lacking the governmental structure to advise them of its existence. I think the whole thing caught them SO off guard. I think Nagin figured the easiest route..."What's the biggest place? The Superdome. Yeah, that sounds good."
I know you are intentionally being "over the top" with the genocide thing; but I for one appreciate the irony. It's the same as what the libs have been saying to Bush, so I would LOVE to see a reporter pose this question. Turnabout is fair play! :-)
But I think when everything is out in the open, both Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco are both going to end up smelling like...well, Lake Ponchartrain.
JUST MY GUESS.
Some folks just aren't cut out for leadership. When the $#!+ hits the fan, they freeze or freak. Without Hurricane Katrina, Blanco would have had an undistinguished career as a corrupt political hack, and retired into pleasant obscurity. But that wasn't to be; she was faced with a true crisis, and fell apart. Where leadership was called for, the best she could come up with was fear and panic. "When in danger, or in doubt: Run in circles, scream and shout!"
I don't think she was sitting on a couch scarfing bon-bons. She appeared to me to be alternately frozen with fear and running around like a chicken with its head cut off, dithering, blithering, and contradicting herself, totally incapable of decisive action. I've seen the phenomenon first hand, on a smaller scale.
As a result her ineptitude, good people died.
None of this excuses your puking up the race card on a public forum like this. This is exactly the sort of nonsense the leftists have been throwing at The President, and for which some of us have been vigorously condemning them.
Katrin Blanco!
WHat I'd like to know is who were the landlords of those homes in NOLA and how much HUD money were they receiving? If my friend is correct Blanco's family is involved.
"...incentive for anyone to stay at the Superdome or Convention Center (she wanted to starve them out and force them to leave)(BUT HAD NO PLAN TO GET THEM OUT?), not anticipating that the levees would break (WRONG. SHE DIDN'T JUST MOVE TO LA THE DAY BEFORE THE STORM.)and they would not be able to get out." THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED WHILE RAY WAS SCREAMING FOR GREYHOUNDS ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.
According to Nagin, Bush gave her two choices. (I believe this is the same incident which was later reported as the Louisiana state pepople saying that if the disaster was federalized it would allow Bush to blame the state).
Another interesting and suspicious thing to me is Bobby Jindal and Senator Vitter refusing to blame Blanco or Nagin, but going after FEMA. Both of those men know the truth, and they know how FEMA operates and what it can and cannot do. Why are THEY spouting the same nonsense as the people in Baton Rouge?
No, I don't think that it has anything to do with the rampant corruption that defines LA. I think it has to do with national politics and national elections. LA voted for Bush, but has elected all Democrat state officials, and Hillary is counting on Blanco to turn the state blue for 2008. Blanco wasn't up to the job.
Bingo.. Blanco will be lucky if she can get a job as a Meter Maid after the dust clears on this one
Impeach the witch. Prosecute her for murder. Or at least 10,000 counts of torture and unlawful imprisonment.
Ta Da! The truth, the rats are the real racists.
Does she need to be..... James Lee Witt flew in out of the blue.................
I'm not sure she attempted genocide, but it sure looks like she consciously impeded aid, thinking to lay the blame on the federal government, and on the President.
She sure appeared to be frantic to keep the President from getting a "bullhorn moment" like he had on 9/11.
Ever hear of Nazis?

That is certainly possible. I entertain that theory as well.
I agree that this probably goes much higher and she was doing somebody else's bidding.
Promise of a Cabinet Post in Hildebeast's administration.
Makes a great movie.
