Just heard on FOX that Blanco refused to allow supplies to be brought to the stadium, "Because they wanted all those people to leave, and they didn't want to create a magnet to bring others there, by bringing in food and water!"""

Who is the head of homeland security for the state of LA (not the federal homeland security, the state version)?

LA Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness
Mr. Arthur Jones is the Division Chief of the Disaster Recovery Division.
Mr. Jones works closely with FEMA Region VI Officials

Mr. Sean R. Fontenot is the Division Chief of the Preparedness Division.

FEMA is a bottom up organization too. Anybody who knee-jerk focuses on Brown is being simpleminded.

What continues to mystify me is that they had food on Sunday the 28th. The National Guard served dinner to all those in the Dome and, in interviews, indicated that they had plenty of food and water for several days. So, if the claims about starving people at the Dome are correct, where'd all the food go?

I think there's some confusion between the Dome and Convention Center. The latter was NOT designated as a shelter and just became a defacto shelter when a bunch of people broke in.

Have faith... the Dems are now going to try to delay hearings, once they realize that they'll be the ones who will be charged with dereliction of duty. It's a lose/lose for the Dems. When the truth comes out, they'll be blamed... if they try to cover up the truth, it'll be obvious. All they have is volume on their side.

Yup, a bipartisan group of congressman holding hearings isn't good enough for them. They want an "independent" commission...i.e. a commission they have better control over. You can bet if it's "independent" that they'll stack the deck with Dem sympathizers.

Raises an interesting point. I have been wondering just who suggested the old CLinton FEMA chief and by what authority did she defer to him rather than the acting FEMA chief.

I'm sure you've picked up on this by now, but the reporter in the piece you linked to assumed "Homeland Security" meant the Federal agency, but in fact it was referring to the STATE Homeland Security department, who were, and still are, in control of New Orleans and all other access to areas within the state needing help.

They have never ceded authority to the Feds.

To mis-quote J from Men In Black "or do you owe them an apology?"

Well .. Blanco did meet with Bush - he made her an offer - AND SHE WANTED TO WAIT 24 HOURS - instead of allowing the feds to come in and take care of things.

So .. the way I see it .. if the FEDS were late - Blanco was to blame .. not the FEDS.

Here is Nancy Pelosi's phone number: (202) 225-4965

Right now her mail box is full. Call and demand she issue an apology to the President and to Mr. Brown for her outrageous comments of today.

After Blanco's reversing Nagin's forced evacuation today, makes me wonder if she wasn't a major strategist in the "no buses" for the pre-Katrina evacuation. Doesn't relieve Nagin of responsibility though.

She doesn't have to defer to anybody. She is in charge. She is the governor. She is the boss. It is her show. She calls the shots. The National Guard is under her command.

She decides who to hire, for what, and when. She decided to hire Jamie Witt to interface with FEMA, on behalf of the state of Louisiana.

Does anyone else see a resemblance in personality between Gov Blankojerko and Al Sheehan, or is it just me? the combination of stupidity, ignorance and whining arrogance?

I got this when I checked the site.

Major General Bennett C. Landreneau is the Adjutant General for Louisiana. He is responsible for the deployment and coordination of programs, policies and plans affecting the more than 14,000 members of the Louisiana Army and Air National Guard. He is also the Director of the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness

"Sweet Jesus, they herded those people into the Superdome to die like animals, and then just took off in their limos and jets to five-star hotels to ride the storm out, thinking they could just blame any deaths on George Bush."

"If these people, especially at the state level, had any shred of decency, they would resign in disgrace and beg not to be prosecuted for their criminal negligence. Instead, to this day they do nothing but continue to try and score political advantage off their negligence at the expense of President Bush, fully aided and abetted by the media."

WORTH A BUMP! (sadly)
