Blanco rescinds Nagin evacuation order - my title

Governor Blanco just said on Fox News Channel that Mayor Nagin does not have the authority to order evacuation of New Orleans, that the authority rests with her....and she doesn't have evidence that it is unsafe!

In order to move all those people out of New Orleans, Nagin would have needed the governor to open up shelters throughout the state, and find more shelters in nearby states.

I don't think that Nagin is capable of thinking that far ahead.

Governor Blanco is responsible to the citizens of Louisiana ...only they can fire her. She has NO obligation to explain her actions to the Federal Government or any other citizen of any other state.

Shades of Earl K Long! The last certified crazy Louisiana governor back in the 50's. His wife finally had him committed to Mandeville State Hospital. He actually fired the head doctor there, hired his own doctor who declared him sane whereupon he took up with stripper Blaze Starr. Just so you have a little history of Louisiana governors. Left out the one who is still in a Federal pen but that's another story. :o)

The letter is legit. But it doesn't ask for the feds to take over. Read the letter and see what she's asking for. Fed money.

Hmmmn, from what we have seen and now know of gov Blank slate, maybe Nagin never had the authority from her to order a, as per the plan, a full pre Katrina evacuation of NO?? If so, he should go into full CMA mode and yell it from the roof tops.
