If 40% of NO is dry, what would be the reason to force the residents out that aren't in sewer water?
What? nagin has already let residents in...I am glad the military takes their order from someone other than Nagin.
So the missing 600 NO PD can begin to loot private homes without witnesses.
Playing devil's advocate, no gas or electricity for 8 weeks. Possibly no consistent means to supply them with food and water over this period or supply them with normal support like fire or police services.
The dry areas are white areas..... I leave it to you to connect the dots and the political future...
Mike
New areas to loot.
Lack of fresh water and proper sanitation facilities but I look at it as each person makes their own choices.
Nagin is planning the largest eminent domain land grab in history.
If 40% of NO is dry, what would be the reason to force the residents out that aren't in sewer water?
Yesterday, a reporter showed a brief interview of one lady who refused to leave. Her home was partially under water.
Later that day or the next, reporter saw that same lady at a shelter and asked her about her earlier refusal.
She said, she thought about it and realized it would be a long time (up to 8 weeks) without water, food, electric, etc. So she decided she would be better off leaving.
Many will be forced out for similar reasons in the coming days.
So the police can come back from Vegas and loot the unoccupied homes?
1. Because all of the looters have stayed.
2. To make resue operations tenable.
Yesterday, was confusion. We were trying to rescue people on their roof tops who were refusing to go. They have no way out, so how do we know when they change their minds.
Its a tricky thing, but I don't think hauling food and water to people on rooftops for 3 months is a good idea.
There will be no business, no power, no sewage in the city for months. Its time these people left.
I completely agree with the military decision though. We don't need the picture of troops rounding up citizens. Simply stop providing food and water to the city. People will come out.
1) Theyll all need public assistance, strung out across NO.
2) Theyll all be dumping their urine and crap in the streets.
3) Looters will be able to blend in, forcing more 24 hour guards at every facility.
Every neighborhood in New Orleans needs a total clean out, an only opened when infrastructure is restored and condemned buildings have been identified. Completed neighborhoods would then need 24 hour perimeter security to help keep looters from transiting to others.
No more PC BS, and that includes right wing PC of those who think they have a right to traverse all around a condemned city because they have a deed to property there somewhere. They'd just be getting in the way of disaster restoration.
the reason would be the sewers dont work , so every soul in the city is polluting it worse. but Nagin is incompetent because 1-mayors dont have the authority
2 if they did it would be to command the police not the military
3 he sent the police away to vegas, those that where not arrested for looting, quit on the job, or killed themselves.
4he doesnt command the military see #2
Perhaps the fact that they have no power, no water, no telephone, are a drag on rescue workers who have to continue bringing them food and water at risk to their own lives. Also the fact that the city doesnt have the police and fire services to protect them. Soon as their home burns down and no fire department comes to put out the fire, who do you think is going to get sued?
Nagin just keeps proving his incompetence along with his criminality.
Well, he didn't force them to leave when it would have helped, so why not force them now?
Is the sewer system working? Or does every "flush" just add to the coliform count? I have not heard one reporter mention the sanitation system of NOLA. But I am envisioning that all sewage has to be pumped somewhere. It is not really 'drainage.'
It would not be politically "fair" to remove some and not all. We are NOT talking about a sane mind here, somebody is pulling his strings.
Once the ground is dry, water is gone, there will be NO WAY to keep NO from filling up with people. The mayor has to get use to it. NO will be populated with many people in a few days -- toxic or not.
