Your words would make a nice, cross-stitched sampler

Let this be a lesson to voters:
You get what you vote for.
And character DOES count.

Anyone that could stay behind in what will be worse than the Love canal had better make their peace with the Lord. If the mosquito-borne diseases don't get you, some other malady will. It is only a matter of time.

All hype - NO is not any more filthy than it was.

Good! If you prepared for the hurricane and were safe in your home would you want someone forcibly evacuating you not knowing where you would be going and when you would see your home again? I wouldn't. Make them sign a waiver that the gov't is not responsible and let them be.

The military should air drop the following items to the liberals who refuse to evacuate: 1. Body bag 2. Magic marker 3. Toe tag

What makes them liberal? Their refusal to leave their homes? They already saw the destructive results of Nagin's previous instructions, why would they trust him now? Forcing these people out of their home by using federal troops is something which a Liberal will do and not the other way around. They have the right to put their life in peril if they wish so, especially on their own property. So don't be so puerile, my friend!

Those pages are filled with schemes and cons and ideas to get their hands on some of the money to rebuild NO.

1. Because all of the looters have stayed.
2. To make resue operations tenable.

Yesterday, was confusion. We were trying to rescue people on their roof tops who were refusing to go. They have no way out, so how do we know when they change their minds.

Its a tricky thing, but I don't think hauling food and water to people on rooftops for 3 months is a good idea.

There will be no business, no power, no sewage in the city for months. Its time these people left.

I completely agree with the military decision though. We don't need the picture of troops rounding up citizens. Simply stop providing food and water to the city. People will come out.

Two issues here.

1) Chain of Command. If they follow orders from Mayor Nagin, they get in trouble for accepting orders from a legally valid issuer.

2) Posse Comitatus (huked on fonix werked fer me) - Soldiers under Federal Command are specifically forbidden from serving as local police forces.

God bless the military of our country!!! The mayor is playing "big bad ass" after the fact. Further abusing the people of N.O., especially those who do not NEED to leave, is a travesty. He should have been more proactive when 5 yr old girls were being raped in the convention center.

"Oh, I forgot, the local police is in Vegas."

....with the squad cars.

Actually, some of the patrol cars are now in storage in Houston. The NOPD used them to evacuate!

Next Naggin announcement: " City Government of New Orleans will move to Cuba for extended vacation, current city will be donated to Fed Gov as an historic site.our job is done-good bye."

Exactly. The military doesn't need to be getting involved in a Gush Katif style roundup and evac operation.

And Nagin - he has no power whatsoever over ANY of the troops or, really, anybody, but that hasn't stopped him. He's even had the unmitigated gall to mouth off to the President of the United States.

Not realizing that the Old Fox will let you rant and rave, smile at you, shake your hand, say "I hear you", and when you leave the room pick up the phone and say "cut him off at the knees."

Actually not even that. THIS presiDENT (I was going for the old Kerry Campaign tone there) just lets people hang themselves. The old "let them suffer the consequences of their own actions" ploy, which isn't a ploy at all.

Damn right. I hope they declare the whole thing an uninhabitable superfund site for the next five years. Honorable Mayor? That's a laugh. Mayor of what?

ED covers business properties too.

The MSM is wrongly letting people believe that New Orleans is an under water cesspool. They are ODDLY downplaying the importance of it. Which makes me suspicious.

The NOLA is our transport corridor. I can't understand why this is not covered and explained by the MSM. Their supporting the 'don't rebuild' propaganda would devestate the physical and business processes of our port and trade.
