Katrina, a photographic timeline: Powerful proof federal response was NOT slow (warning, many pics)

The near total evacuation of the major American port city of New Orleans, Louisiana was accomplished between Tuesday afternoon, August 30 and Friday afternoon, September 2, 2005. This evacuation occurred while other search, rescue, relief and evacuation operations were simultaneously being conducted throughout the Gulf Coast between approximately Lafayette, Louisiana, on the west and the Florida panhandle on the east - an area of about 90,000 sq. miles, or the size of the entire nation of Great Britain.
I'd say this amazing achievement is the opposite of slow. I'd say that it's a stunning accomplishment and one that demonstrates superb organization, remarkable logistics flow, and the greatness of the American spirit.
From the following photographic timeline, it should be clear to all reasonable people that the failure of government response occurred before the hurricane hit, and it occurred solely at the local and state level.

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble of finding all of the photos and commentary so show the timeline before and after Katrina hit. The mainstream media should be so diligent and thorough in their reporting....if only they didn't have an agenda to further.

I found this photo of New Orleans' "finest" looting DVDs in the interest of resroring order and enforcing the law (top) and another guy defending his turf from looters on a thread dated August 31th How do you know these cops were looting, and not bringing in the DVD's as evidence? The photo really doesn't tell either story.

It will be very hard to bring New Orleans back. Most of the buildings will have to be bulldozed, because mold and mildew will have a field day in the humid, warm climate. Plus the toxins in the flood waters will permeate structures, carpets, and pretty much everything it touches except maybe concrete, metal and plastic.
The one thing that will keep some sort of city in the vicinity is the port, but I doubt New Orleans will ever fully recover.

Why did they pull yer post ?By mutual request. Hiredhand was kind enough to agree and ask the mods to do it. Wanted to keep the photo essay together and to have other images added after the all clear was given. Everything's cool. Hiredhand didn't do anything wrong.

You nailed it right here, Wolfstar.
A fantastic job on the time line that should rightfully torpedo Blanco's and Nagin's political careers. Especially Blanco's.

A fantastic job on the time line that should rightfully torpedo Blanco's and Nagin's political careers. Especially Blanco's.Rightfully, yes. But I have no faith in the long-time Dem voters of Louisiana. On the other hand, New Orleans voters are scattered all around the country now, and many may never return. So who knows. Maybe Katrina will result in breaking the back of the Dem machine in Louisiana.
