Katrina, a photographic timeline: Powerful proof federal response was NOT slow (warning, many pics)

The near total evacuation of the major American port city of New Orleans, Louisiana was accomplished between Tuesday afternoon, August 30 and Friday afternoon, September 2, 2005. This evacuation occurred while other search, rescue, relief and evacuation operations were simultaneously being conducted throughout the Gulf Coast between approximately Lafayette, Louisiana, on the west and the Florida panhandle on the east - an area of about 90,000 sq. miles, or the size of the entire nation of Great Britain.
I'd say this amazing achievement is the opposite of slow. I'd say that it's a stunning accomplishment and one that demonstrates superb organization, remarkable logistics flow, and the greatness of the American spirit.
From the following photographic timeline, it should be clear to all reasonable people that the failure of government response occurred before the hurricane hit, and it occurred solely at the local and state level.

EXCUSE ME????
You asked for specific information in post #42. You wanted a list of the countries that offered help of any kind.
To avoid cluttering Wolfstar's wonderful pictorial time-line thread, I provided you with a link, noting the exact post number to find the information you requested. It is all typed out with the exact nature of the assistance.
What on earth that has to do with what this country stands for, or your families long military history escapes me.
BTW, thank you to your family for their service to our country. I remain a staunch supporter of the military and their mission.

Anyone have a clue who or where I should contact to find out more information. I think your best bet would be either your local church or the Salvation Army. You could even try calling your local city hall to find out if they are doing anything.

FYI, the bottom photo is of the Surekote Rd breach, not Belaire. Thanks for the correction, rvoitier. For those who are unaware of this fact, Yahoo photo captions are notorious for their inaccuracies and Leftist partisan gunk. The most important thing is the timestamp for when each photo was posted. That we know is accurate and vitally important to getting the truth out.
Some dimbulb TV reporter sees what's going on around the area where he or she is reporting from, and thinks that's the whole story. Well the media has only seen and covered a fraction of this story -- and got it WRONG. We need to push back to get the truth out there.

Of course, and sad to say, the failure to recognize this by so many reporters and politicians is an indictment of their intelligence, reasoning powers or venality - or all three! All three, I think, and you can add hubris to that list. As I just said on another reply above, some dimbulb reporter stands in the middle of a huge disaster and reports only what he or she can see. That very narrow viewpoint becomes the whole story. They are too arrogant to pull back and see the vastly larger picture. It's all about them. Witness the disgraceful behavior of Geraldo Rivera, Shephard Smith, and others.

This will be a great resource for my daughter's planned Powerpoint school project. That really makes me happy. If the kids know and understand, they'll pass it along to future generations.

WE are going to have to defend the President, as too many Republicans and commentators who are SUPPOSED to be on his side are too cowardly to do so.Good morning, Miss Marple. I'm glad you caught this thread. As usual, Congress will be its disgraceful self on this matter. But we can push back at the media and our own individual congress-critters. We've done it before. We can do it again.

I was happy to see you mention Shep Smith and Geraldo Rivera because their reporting was some of the MOST irresponsible. But it's pretty pervasive at Fox now. They were absolutely despicable. As for Fox, I have never been as big a fan of them as many on our side of the policial fence have. Some individuals over there are great, but taken as a whole, it doesn't work for me.

I hope the more influential and media savy FReepers with contacts will find a way to get it to those that can help spread the word.I hope so too, evad. That's why keeping this thread bumped up for awhile is important -- so those folks have a chance to find it and make the best possible use of it.
