Louisiana proves that state and local government officials need to get serious about homeland security and disaster plans.
For a city and state not to have a well thought out and practiced emergency plan in this post 9/11 world borders on criminal neglect.

You have a hurricane in the gulf. You're the mayor of New Orleans. The President says you need to follow your evacuation plan which has been in place for years. You as Mayor don't attempt to remove even the people in the nusrsing homes or hospitals. This is 48 hours before the hurricane strikes. Now who is at fault?

Our illustrious former president thought it more important to protect some fish and birds rather than the citizens of Louisiana. ...and screw intern in the White House and busy defending that "he did not have a sex with that women"!!! You (anybody) believe that, then you must believe in tooth ferry. Slick managed to twist out of it and keeps doing "his thing" to the country now.

For some unexplained reason, whenever I think of Clinton a blue stained dress and sex in the Oval Ofice come to mind. Should I see a shrink?

Why haven't I heard of complaints from Miss. and Ala.?
A bunch of us were saying the same thing...it seems that all the self pity wallowing blame games garbage is concentrated in NO and LA.

Ya know, it's funny Billy? I seem to recall that the fine folks of New Orleans were asked, no not asked but ordered to evacuate the city prior to the hurricane hit. Many did, and they are the responsible and lucky ones. Many didn't and they are the stupid and unfortunate ones. If those who stayed placed themselves at the mercy of the storm because they believed in their mayor and governor, they made a serious mistake of judgment.
Anyone, who was living below sealevel when a cat 5 hurricane was bearing down on them, who stayed to 'weather the storm' gets absolutely no sympathy from me.
If the mayor and governor failed to get all people out of harms way, that is a local political problem. not a national one. If our president had ordered a mandatory evacuation of Louisiana prior to the hurricane hitting, you would have said that GW was usurping states rights.
Get real Billy, find an intern, and enjoy a cigar! We know what makes you tick buddy.....

Why didn't the citizens of NO have an active plan in case of a direct hurricane hit? They just trusted the Government and laid back and let it all happen instead of being actively involved in the defense of their own lives. People need to take personal responsibility for their lives.

Why should they? They were waiting for George Bush's post-9-11 Leviathan to bail them out.

Dear Dumb-sh*T!!
I do not expect the government to do anything but tax me and do a crappy job fixing roads. The end.

Yup, aiming his venom at Bush, Jr. while Bush, Sr. just keeps hanging out with the serial rapist for more photo ops. Politicians are lower than pimps. I'll never get it...

Gee Bill. I sure hope you are talking about the mayor and the govenor and not the President because I for one have heard enough blame being put unneccesarily on the President Bush. And even then, if I were you, I would stay out of it vocally because you were an embarassment to this country too. Just help out quietly. We can see you in the pictures. We know you are there.

Bill Clinton was responding to a reporter's question about the levy situation and he said something to the effect he did address that issue at the end of his term and didn't know what happened after that. It seemed like a slam at President Bush to me. The statement also seemed to take Bush #1 by surprise.

One of the main problems I have is that the larger the federal governmnet gets, the less responsible the state, locals and people become. It's unfortunate, but this entitlement attitude has permeated everything and everybody, creating a society that is completely dependent on others, especially government. Perhaps the paragraph below will help explain what is taking place right under our noses. Just as was predicted, the masses are marching in lock step. Although, it appears that many are coming out of their comas. I pray it is not too late.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened."
-- Norman Thomas, six-time Socialist Party presidential candidate and one of the founders of the ACLU.

They did not desert - The screw ball in charge sent them and their family's on a five day vacation to Las Vegas - All expenses paid by NO. I think that money could be spent more wisely.
