New Orleans Mayor: "CIA Will Wipe Me Out"

New Orleans, Louisiana (AHN) - Apparently suffering from stress and a bit of paranoia, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin tells CNN Saturday night that he believes the CIA will "wipe him out" after his criticism of President Bush and the Federal Government in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Mayor Nagin seemed to have calmed down after meeting with President Bush for two hours on Friday but became stressed again over the current situation still unfolding in his city.

The Mayor has come under serious scrutiny and criticism in the last 72 hours after photos of parking lots filled with school buses that were sitting in a foot of water were released on the Internet. Many critics of the Mayor and Gov. Blanco say the buses could have saved an estimated 20,000 people if they had been used for emergency evacuations which President Bush had declared two days before Katrina hit.

Now he's letting the NOPD go off on vacation to soak their nerves.
The runaway bride could have handled this crisis better than the mayor.

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

"Hey Linda. That is an excellent article"

Try telling FoxNews. They rejected it.

The Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan specifically stated that people without private transportation were to be transported on public buses.

There were not just "200 buses". There were 200 buses in just one photo and Freepers studying the post-Katrina satellite images have counted over 400 buses altogether at other city parking.

At 70 people per bus that is 28,000 people per round trip that could have been taken out of the storm surge area in the 48 hours prior the Katrina striking.

After the storm hit, what makes you think that buses sent from outside of New Orleans could drive through the flooded mess any better than the 145 New Orleans city buses that were parked 1.2 miles away from the Superdome?

Was Scotty supposed to beam the outside buses to the Superdome and them beam them back out so that they would not have to drive through impassable roads?

The time to evacuate those 200,000 low-income people on public buses OUT OF THE STORM SURGE ZONE was BEFORE the Category 4 storm struck.

That was what the Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan for New Orleans specifically called for.

The Democrat Governor and the Democrat Mayor did NOTHING to carry out that portion of the plan. They left 200,000 low-income resident abandoned and they now blame the Federal Government for not having Scotty beam down a massive logistics effort after a human disaster of their own making.

New Orleans Mayor: "CIA Will Wipe Me Out"

Liberals can never get off their script, can they? Even in emergencies.

The lamestream media don't want to know about the buses, they just want to blame Bush.
However, you are right, this is one of the crucial facts: As soon as the mayor, in his colossal complacency and incompetence, decided not to get the poor evacuated (didn't even TRY!) by any means possible, their fate was sealed, and they were doomed.
What happened after that was inevitable and unavoidable, no matter what the Feds did.

Sounds like he's smoking crack again. The night before the hurricane struck he told everyone " OK this is the real deal, everyone leave" You could tell he was high as hell on crack.

Apropos of "going to get wiped out".

"- - so he is preparing his exit strategy."

Oh , so that's why he bought that case of Charmin.

Something to consider - he may be a tard, but he was elected by the people of New Orleans. One man can be a tard - he really can't help that - but 59% of the people in the city elected the guy.

It's sort of like the Clinton syndrome - as long as there are no major problems, they can be swept under the rug and ignored and people thing the guy is doing a good job (though those things under the rug tend to grow as they are ignored).

I could imagine the exact same thing happening in a lot of cities - Newark NJ comes to mind after I saw the PBS special about it.

They did? Too bad. I actually had the article emailed to me. Hundreds of people are forwarding it all over the internet. So, again, THE PEOPLE are bypassing the newsmedia and getting out own information!

I don't pretend to know the man's mind, but I will admit...I always had a gut feeling that when he went into his "homey from the hood" voice and started pointing fingers at everyone but himself...

my honest belief was that the man sounded like he felt guilty. Just an impression I got, I don't know for sure.

SerpentDove, this is a "I stayed at Holiday Inn last night" post but I'm going to go with it: when he goes into his "homey from the hood" voice, I think he is disassociating himself as the failure of a mayor that he is, from himself as a person in shock at seeing the loss of life and destruction of the city that he is at least in some part responsible for. His 'self' knows his guilt but his 'self' also cannot accept that and so he goes into that voice.

I feel incredibly saddened by what has happened but have found in the days that have passed that I can't deal with the situation if I stay in anger/blame mode; my blood pressure cannot tolerate it. So, all my 'self' can do at this point is to keep a eye on the events to educate myself and to keep packing up care packages and writing checks for what little I can to support Salvation Army, etc. I'm also reviewing my own family's 'readiness' abilities that was last reviewed after 9/11. I've gotten too complacent and NO has shown that one cannot afford to become complacent whether disaster is man-made or an act of nature, or in the case of NO, both. All IMHO!
