i agree..It's a publicity stunt , as obvious as can be .
Why would he need a flack jacket? He's rescuing people! He's saving all the people the Feds won't/can't save! Everybody loves him! Hollywood to the rescue!

We're staying out of the way and letting the professionals handle the rescuing. How would us going down there and becoming part of the problem be considered help?

Just think of all the manpower wasted to "protect" his silly @ss when they could've actually been elsewhere saving people.
*I* am not there because, like Sean Penn, I have not the training or experience necesssary to enter hostile/dangerous areas to save lives and I'm honest enough to admit it.
Can't say the same for him.
* We sheltered 4 evacuees in our home for 5 days (Sunday-Thursday) -- 2 adults and 2 canines with my 3 cats and 2 adults.
* Tomorrow I'm going with 2 ladies to deliver pet supplies to a shelter in Birmingham where truckloads of rescued pets are being housed temporarily -- until wonderful folks from New York can transport them east for adoption.
* Tomorrow I am also going to the Pelham, Alabama Civic Center to deliver pillows and blankets for the first 100 evacuees. I will be surveying the situ to see what else is needed. We are expecting 5,000 evacuees over the next few days.
* Our Missouri Synod Lutheran Church is already collecting $$ and we have donated. We've been told to hold off on other activities for about 2 weeks, until the situation is fully assessed and a specific plan devised to care for our own.

Bingo, their hatred of Bush is irrational. The good news is he had to buy the boat and camara equipment that sunk in the Bayou on the SS Dingy! How many could he have fed if he gave $$ to the Red Cross??

Credit for what? Attempting to save people? Nope. His intention was to float out there with his photographer and entourage to rescue someone while HE was on camera doing it. It was about Sean Penn, and NOT about any selfless act of kindness.
His photographer was supposed to be in the boat, although I'm sure there were plenty of lefty photogs there to show ALL of his contributions. They sure did eh?
