U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

Jindal and Vitter seem to be plagarizing the Dem talking points in the Chicago Tribune.

'bout time..looks like Hannity and Rush are the only ones to understand this has been political since day 3.
Vitters has been a great dissapointment..I saw such leadership last fall from our young Senate candidates but I guess fire exposes iron or dross.

Isn't it amazing that when you through it back at all the critics their first response is *plenty of blame to go around or now's not the time to point fingers*....I missed Sean's comeback, but hope he keeps it up....

I just finished listening to Sean Hannity, who I rarely watch.

He absolutely pounded Rep. Vittner (sp?). Read the Picayune newspaper that said it's not a matter of if but when. And the article also went on that no plans had been made to evacuate the poor, etc.

Sean said to Vittner, you gave FEMA an "F". What grade do you give yourself; you've been in Congress for 7 years.

Vittner never answered. Sean grew up a little tonight, imo.

She just took on the black 'leadership'. Inbetween Tammy and Sean's smackdown it's turning into a good night.

Mike just got activated, he leaves in the morning

Surely they will arm all of the guardsmen. Prayers for Mike and for you. (Is this Deja Vu?)

While I've thought the last week was perfect weather - with highs in the upper 60's to low 70's, I suspect the weather will take a bit of adjusting for those used to southern weather.

This is in regard to that idiot President Broussard that was blubbering on Timmy's show yesterday from Jefferson Parrish. I mentioned earlier on this or another thread that I had no idea how big the Parrish is and/or how much was flooded, but his accusations seemed a bit strange to me. I was just flipping channels and they just showed the cars rolling back into this Parrish (which was announced they'd be allowed to do right after his breakdown yesterday). Well, apparently 15% of the Parrish was flooded. I still don't know how badly, but why did they allow that poor woman to sit there for 5 days saying 'the calvary is coming'??? Surely if only 15% of the Parrish was flooded they could have found a way in via car and boat to rescue her. His statements and crying looked fake yesterday and it looks even faker today IMHO. That said, I realize I'm not there, but it stinks to high heaven like a set-up right now (even more than yesterday) to me.

The only Republicans that seem to follow the 11th Commandment are Bush, Tom Delay, and dare I say, Rudy Guiliani, the RINO, who defends conservatives.

If there is something Sean has done better than anybody lately it is trapping them within their own quotes or the context of their statements.

My apologies in advance if this was already posted--searched and didn't find it--comment from Rick Lowry at The Corner:

Was just talking to someone who knows military matters and disaster relief, and has been following the situation on the Gulf Coast very closely. Several points (excuse the repetitions):

--“The mayor and the governor are negligent and incompetent. The administration has tried to smooth out the chain of command, but she won't do it. The constitution says that the governor is in charge of the Guard.” (The Washington Post wrote about this on Saturday--and KJL excerpted the relevant bit in here.)

--“None of those poor people were moved prior to the storm. They were told to go to the Superdome, but they had to walk there. Whose responsibility is that?”

-- “General Honore in one day got 20,000 people evacuated from the convention center with a ground and air evacuation. Have you heard about that in the media?”

--“The DoD has been tasked with 40-50 missions here. DoD is the go-to organization for DHS. DHS is trying to build the capacity, but doesn't have it yet. DHS is all brain power and no brawn.”

--“Michael Brown has not done a good job and is in over his head. But, in fairness, FEMA is not organized to handle a catastrophe of this size.”

--“There will be 50k troops there by mid-week, a combination of active duty and National Guard. Including elements of 82nd Airborne Division, First Cavalry Division, and two Marine brigades. That's in just over a week. That's amazing. But no one realizes it. They had to trot General Honore out this morning to try to explain to the media how you move troops. There were National Guard pre-positioned in the north part of Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana two days the storm, watching the storm, seeing which way it was going to go, and once the storm hit, moving troops in immediately. There was a flow-plan that's been working since.”

--“The constitution says the governor is in charge of the Guard. The president would have to invoke the Insurrection Act to over-ride that. No president has done that since the Civil War. And he would have to do it over the head of the governor. Bush is not there yet.”

--“The military is there anyway on the principle: 'It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.' Federal troops can't do law enforcement. So they are being creative. National Guard will embed in active military units and be there to make actual arrests. That's very similar to what has been done in past hurricanes and the Coast Guard has done the same thing with the Navy in the past.”

--“There are no law enforcement problems in Mississippi. They have been acting there with the cooperation of the governor. In New Orleans, they don't have the same kind of cooperation from the governor or the mayor. It's not as stream-lined or as effective as it could be.”

--“The New Orleans police disintegrated. The national response plan calls for state and local to be the first on the scene. But the catastrophe wiped out the whole local infrastructure and the emergency communications. 80% of the police disintegrated and they are just not beginning to re-constitute.”
