U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

Production likely will continue through August. Officials want to get the DVDs into the hands of pastors and community leaders as hurricane season reaches its height in September, Katz said.

Oh, man!!!

For future reference, here's how.

1. On the post which has the picture, right-click on the picture.

2. That will bring up a pop-up menu.

3. At the bottom of the menu, you should see "Properties".

4. Highlight "Properties" and left-click the mouse.

5. That should bring up a display with various settings. The top one should read 'Image' and be followed by a URL.

6. Highlight over the URL and hit Control-C to copy. 7. Back on Free Republic, click the Reply button to the post. 8. On the "Your Reply" type in the following: <img src="">

9. Then PASTE (using control-v) the image's URL between the quotes above.

10. Add whatever other text you want below that.

Voila, you have a picture in your reply.

I hated it when I lived there.

You should talk to my wife. The two of you would get along well. I can never win an argument (not that this is a reasonable expectation for for any husband) because all she has to do is remind me that I moved us down there.

The dome's backup generator failed about the time the flood crested in New Orleans. IIRC, either the exhaust or the fuel feed failed when flooded. I remember video of guys wading in the generator room trying top keep it going.

NBC showing live video of NO construction company barge cranes beached, high and dry. Tugs trying to pull them off while the crane uses 10 ton clamshell buckets to dig out the dirt holding them ashore. No joy today, the crews are sleeping on the barges and planning to give it another go tomorrow.

I just checked the Red Cross database at http://www.familylinks.icrc.org/katrina/locate

Database search doesn't turn them up the Mosly's, but Kaui M Hale of MARRERO, LA turns up as being looked for by Pauline Bates. No record of him being located

WWL is actually quoting Tammany Parish official that kids should be home schooled rather than enrolled outside their home district. Home schooled in what? A mold infested home?

They people are wacky. Its blatent they dont want to lose that student money in the school district.

As Abe Linclon said, "You can please some of the people all the time, all of the people some of the time, but, you can't please all of the people all of the time. And you can't please the liberals any time."

Ha! No kidding!

Yes, I believe that C.K. has been winging it lately. He doesn't seem to be using supportive data like he had me accustomed to, just a bunch of off the cuff remarks.

They said yesteday that as long as water is standing in the homes they wouldn't grow mold below the water line, but since it is so humid there the moisture wicking up the walls would mold very quickly and as soon as water is drained the rest would mold. Also the wood-framed houses would become more prone to fire (for some reason that escapes me now)...
