U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

Thanks. I would love to have seen his account of the storm itself.

They evacuated to Florida for the duration of the storm, so they didn't actually experience Katrina (for which they are thankful)

I'm really not tune into the discussion, but there is a difference between a terrorist attack and a natural disaster.

Federalization of troops during a terrorist attack is a given, it is not usually the case during a natural disaster.

But under the "Insurrection Act" the President if she is/was not willing to ask, the President could have declared the state and local governments "unable or unwilling" to care for their citizens, thus invoking the act.

Of course, if Bush had sent in Federal troops early, we'd be hearing the MSM bash Bush. Only this time it would be bashing him because troops were sent in too soon and he usurped the state's authority.

The man can't win with the MSM, never has, but he always comes out fine, and their bashing usually backfires on them.

I could tell horror stories.

Everyone down there will pile on the gravy train. Large sums of money will be spent without any documentation. Leadership jobs will be handed out to family members and friends. People with zero skills will be in charge of major projects and huge sums of money. The waste will be enormous.

Right now, they're poisoning the well to provide themselves cover for all of this. The Louisiana political machine needs to be unseated NOW.

Taking charge of chaotic situations that overwhelm state and local authorities is FEMA's whole reason for exisiting.

For goodness sakes, why is it that I keep seeing you posting critical comments and asking for others to defend the President. Evacuating the city, getting people to secure shelters where they would be provided food and water and employing every resource to get them there should not have overwhelmed this city. This isn't a week long event...its months and months and months of managing both the displaced and the rebuilding.

The majority of people who stayed there did so out of stupidity or because they wanted to loot. If they have left all this tragedy would have be reduced mostly to material losses rather than seeing the human suffering and the shame of committing looting and crimes as many did after the hurricane.

They said they would have to have been reporting what they were doing up the ladder leading up to it.

They may have been reporting, but I suspect they were reporting that they had everything under control. Do you think Nagin reported early that he didn't have a clue what was going on (I gather their communications network was out of commission and that various agencies had incompatible equipment)? Maybe not, but didn't Nagin and/or Blanco deny early reports of shootings?

Did anyone else hear the official from Houston who spoke on FOX earlier? He talked about the change in the state's earlier approximation of the number of survivors they could take care of.

He stumbled a bit and explained that the survivors were individuals with needs not previously anticipated. He even spoke of the policing needed.

Sad. So many of the survivors are good people who suffered a tragedy which could have happened to anyone of us. They deserve our kindest, most generous "hand up."

The criminal element destroys so much.

"but even if she hadn't, the POTUS has the authority to send the NG without governors' permission - he did so immediately after 911..."

That statement is not correct. The NG is under the Governor's command. Not the President's. The Guard does not fall under the President's command until it has been federalized...with the approval of the state. 9/11 does not apply here because that was a matter of National Security, and Guard assets used immediately after the initial strikes were Guard assets already assigned the role. No Guard troops were deployed without the direct coordination and approval of the Governors in command of those Guard units.

LOL. Both Blanco and Landrieu have not shown good leadership skills. They're both embarassments. Same with Nagin.

A convoy of 100 surgeons and paramedics in a state-of-the-art mobile hospital was marooned in rural Mississippi as of Sunday, AP reported, because Louisiana officials would not let them into the New Orleans area.

Of course, if Bush had sent in Federal troops early, we'd be hearing the MSM bash Bush.

I'm inclined to go with those FReepers who think the left would have claimed it as grounds for impeachment, overstepping his constitutional authority. (Not that some of those moonbats need actual grounds!)

Sean Hannity has him (Gingrich) on his radio show all the time. I've started listenting to CDs on the way home from work.

Sean was too tabloid for my tastes.

the left has been successful, in part, of making alot of americans believe that the federal government is their "nanny" - from cradle to grave.
