EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.
Penn had planned to rescue children waylaid by Katrina's flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.
The actor, known for his political activism, was seen wearing what appeared to be a white flak jacket and frantically bailing water out of the sinking vessel with a red plastic cup.
When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.
Asked what he had hoped to achieve in the waterlogged city, the actor replied: "Whatever I can do to help."
With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"
Thanks for the ping!
We have an asshole detector. Had solutions on Spicoli and Geraldo.
Pray for W, New Orleans and Our Freedom Fighters
He only tried for a photo-op. If he really cared he would have gone by himself, not with a whole entourage. Better yet, he and the other self-serving "seelebrities" should just open their fat checkbooks and write a big check. Course there is no publicity in that.
Too funny to be true but it is.
Hey Sean! Our guys in Fallujah are gonna love this one!
And these incompetents are the first ones to criticize America.
Dion has donated $US1 million ($1.3 million) to the victims of the storm that wrought catastrophe on the US Gulf Coast after hitting on Monday and sparking a deadly flood of the US jazz capital of New Orleans. Officials say thousands of people are feared dead in New Orleans where tens of thousands of survivors had to wait up to five days for military convoys and airlift planes to get into the city to rescue them. Many died in overcrowded makeshift shelters set up in the city's Superdome stadium and convention centre as they waited for help to arrive.
Dion also slammed authorities for arresting looters in the city that became a hellish haven of crime and violence after the storm laid waste to its infrastructure and services, saying rescue should be the only priority. "How come it's so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives?" Dion said in an angry reference to the US-led war in Iraq.
I can now die a happy man. That's the picture of the decade!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
Cheese and crackers....you guys get all the bennies!
I guess the idiot doesn't know there is no Snow in New Orleans, and that white flak jacket makes a perfect attention getter and aiming point....
Stupid is as stupid does...
This is the left, folks.....
These are the assholes that think they can run the country!
These are the imbeciles giving all the advice!
Damn! You just couldn't make this stuff up, and no one would believe it if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes.
Semper Fi
LOL Thank you! I was hoping for a pix. :)
Thanks, I missed that. Perhaps, she should go home up North. How come they all come here --- she, Peter Jennings -- and then teach us how to live?
I knew it was you before I saw your name. LOL!!!
LOL - amazing the stupidity out there. ;*)
After his boat sank...Sean Penn flagged a ride home.
