Bill Clinton For Chief Justice of SCOTUS
vanity | 4 September 2005 | Vanity

One of the unfortunate diseases of the body politic has been the increasing politicalization of the US Supreme Court. This was not caused by conservatives; however, perhaps it should be solved by a conservative President.

One outstanding chance is now upon us. Most likely, President Bush will take the safe road and go through the political gauntlet and appoint a known conservative judge. What we really need is a break in the partisanship of the appointment process. Nominating former President Clinton would give everyone pause and begin a process where politicians (mostly, but not exclusively Democrats) can cease making efforts to please narrow interest groups in the selection process.

I know former President Clinton has personal flaws. I also know his reputation for politically catering to the pro-choicers and so forth. If any of you know a successful politiican, you know how much many of them hate being jerked around by special interest groups. I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth.

I could give his other qualifications, but I will leave it here.

Actually, I think you have an interesting idea, but with the wrong Clinton.

Nominate Hillary for SCJ -- as long as you keep a strong 6-4 conservative tilt on the court. That way she can't do the damage she could do as a President, and she's occupied for the rest of her life doing something that can be watered down by more conservative justices.

It'll never happen...but having Hillary run around as president and then as a high profile lobbyist after her presidency scares the dickens out of me.

If Hillary was on the Supreme Court, it wouldn't prevent her from running for President...in 1916 the Republican nominee for President was an associate justice of the SC (Charles Evans Hughes), although he did resign his seat to run for President. (He was later re-appointed to the Court as Chief Justice, having in the meantime been Secretary of State.)

Wrong. He moved toward the center for political expediency, but he is a leftist at heart. The only reason he signed the welfare reform bill is because the Republicans outmanuevered him.

No, your idea is wrong and bad and ill conceived. That's my opinion.

and this makes the argument for Clinton as Chief Justice HOW ???

He has no self-discipline, which is a requisite to serving on the Supreme Court, or even practicing law, which he's never done. He didn't show the minimal amount of self-discipline or self-control as POTUS, a very high-profile position. Can anyone imagine his showing any in the lower profile Supreme Court?

How about making clinton Chief Justice of SCOTUS and Secretary General of the UN at the same time. Then he could finish the work of aligning our Constitution with international law and custom.

Sure you are a conservative! Clinton is not only a Marxist liberal, he is a criminal. This you want for the court? Be real.

Just a few questions . . .

1) Why is it the conservatives who always have to 'change' and always into liberals to 'make things better?' The DIMRATS and traitorous commies NEVER do that. And they laugh at us when we do.

2) Have you had a hard hit on the head recently?

3) Are you sure you're not around any government black ops without your tinfoil hat? You might have some experts check your food; your meds; the electronic transmissions transiting your home . . . etc.

4) Are you sure you're not an ET out to sabotage our land?

5) Which part of EVIL BILLDO AND SHRILLERY--TRAITORS; SATAN'S STOOGES

do you not understand?

6) Do you have a death wish for our country?

7) Have Billdo and Shrillery given you some of their Chinese . . . "pocket change?"

8) Do you have your asbestos HAZMAT suit on? Suggestion: Put it on, if you don't.

Sigh.

By all means! Let's reward Slick Willie with even MORE accolades! Heck, queue up that Nobel Peace Prize he's been jonesin' for for the past decade as well! /sarcasm

The fact that he's still allowed to live on MY dime with all the bells and whistles afforded to more worthy Ex-Presidents than he, as a disgraced, impeached POTUS isn't tolerance enough from the right? I think that alone is clearly more than he deserves from any American citizen.
