Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
AFter rejecting it the Friday before! There's plenty of blame to go around here! The primary problem was evacuation...President Bush and the National Weather Service BEGGED the mayor to evacuate, and he waited to long.. He didn't do as the evac plan said..to use buses to get the people out. Next problem, law and order...the WHOLE state National Guard should have been activated..not just 1700 of them. She rejected Pres. Bush's request to federalize the national Guard...if at THAT time it screwed up, he would be to blame. As it was, she was in charge of the National Guard.
This bears repeating and repeating.
Ok I stand corrected. I was getting first reports wich were grossly different from what actually happened. From what I gather it was snipers shooting and the cops killed 2 of them. Also I don't think any of the COE were killed. Sorry for my misinformation.
And was this the first time she was back to the area also.
Blanco's first time was with Bush.
She needs to lay the blame with her and Mitch's (Lt. Gov. LA),dad Moon, who didn't install the new pumps provided by the govt. because he forgot to include installation costs and then stashed them at a relatives business, it was a big scandal.
"Where are those evacuation buses, Nagin???"
"Sorry, man...jus' havin' a Hurr'cane Party an' dat @%$!*^& Bush keep callin' sayin' we got to evacuate."
Now that you mention it, it probably will get lost in the fray
I guess that's what happen when you combine affirmative action with an entitlement mentality.
Do you have a link for this?
The only reason she was elected was that she bussed thousands of these thugs in the last hour and a half to barely win.
Let 'em threaten. Perhaps the SS will host a litle party of their own over in DUmmieland.
Before they needed the president they needed the leaders of Louisiana and they were nowhere to be found. Now they're out pointing fingers like typical Democrats with no answers and only blame on someone else.
Shut up you stupid %$^%$^ and stand accountable for your your own failures that cost so many lives.
My brother's NO friend also said believe nothing you hear in the MSM.
They're all lies.
He also said buses were sent to the projects, but no one would leave.
I have no source for this other than the friend. It will be interesting to see if it is true.
I join you in my sorrow for the NO officers that tried to help their people. They were totally overwhelmed, again because their superiors failed in their jobs. The people of NO should get rid of all their elected leaders and start over, they couldn't possibly do any worse and just might come up with a few good ones.
The Balloonist
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and Replied, "You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level.
You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican.
" I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well, answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."
Very good....and true.
Violence runs deep in the Democrat camp. First Clinton wants to assault Hastert and now this bimbo wants to punch GW. What a fine group they are.
Whoa...a tergamant. I like that even better than "Ho."
Thank you texasbluebell and cajungirl.
They say that brevity is the soul of wit.
A more biting commentary I could not craft. I wish you both and your families well.
She was right there with him getting hers. This is just to ridiculous, just saw Nagin on CNN ranting about Pres. Bush and say everyone at FEMA should be fired. Gosh, now that would really be helpful.
