Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
People can now see how this happened.
Corrupt political families, like Landreiu's, who are in control of that armpit, are responsible for not having any plans and not shoring up that levee @ $100/person/year for 5 years.
These people are friggin idiots.
When the Rats know they are in trouble, that's what they do, say the most outlandish lies, knowing enough will buy it, so that when the truth inevitably comes out, the damage to the party is minimized.
Typical Democrat, something does not go their way or if they are called on the carpet to explain themselves, they resort to violence.
Really quite pathetic and another reason Americans can not trust their votes to Democrats.
Assuming teh accuracy of this report, in a healthy and sane society, this woman would pay a heavy price for this outburst. By this I mean she'd be publicly howled to shame, and driven from office, for good; and her party, if it didn't roundly disown her, would also suffer heavily.
But that's in a healty and sane society.

Personally Mary , I think the potus can kick your @$$ along with mayor nagin and gov. blanco all at once . And all of you may damn well deserve a good @$$ kicking .
Listening to Haley Barbour now.......he was excellent! Good job Barbour.
Oops! I was talking about Landrieau! LOL
I'm beginning to think that she is just the type who walks into the invisible rakes on the ground and the handles smack her in the face, every time.
Not that it excuses her juvenile behavior. Where is Rudy when we need him :/
If he were Bill Clinton (which thank God he is not), today's talk shows would have been full of his minions --Carville, Stephanopoulis, Davis, Begala, etc. -- attacking his critics and applauding his heroism.
But Bush, whatever his flaws, is too classy to do that.
Mary, our President would never do such as thing, you know why? He has something you don't, class.
She's crying because she knows that without the vote fraud in New Orleans she is out of a job.
I agree. Sometimes posts read like a transcript of rap lyrics!
Thats something for one elected by VOTER FRAUD in the first place.. She musta thought we'd fergit..
I haven't heard Mr. Bush criticize any person at all. So far all the criticizm has come from the left at the Pres.
i hate it when they cry.
Probably, definitely, yes and absolutely.
FOTFLOL! Thank you.
"These LA politicians aren't very professional, are they?"
Inept unqualified children fostered into positions of power as a direct result of the Clinton PC Administration. I listened to the tape of Nagin and he sounded like a street rapper gansta type, Blanco went blank like a hysterical child and failed to act, Landrieu's public statements are a disgrace beyond words.
If this is the level of 'Leadership" in many states, cities across America then we are in big trouble.
Hey Ferk, this paragraph that the leftists have been trotting around the blogosphere is just a statement of FEMA'S role within the Department.
It does not mean that FEMA is supposed to be the first responders. That falls to the local and state officials.
