I'm sorry, I've been kicking in money all week. I'm just concerned about what happens when the novelty wears off and we're stuck with a quarter million unemployed Louisianians. I hope we can get some help ourselves to take care of them or we could be screwn.
I mean, what happens to all the events planned for the George R. Brown? And all the hotels downtown? And can they play basketball nextdoor? Football games? Where will people park?
All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.
WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.
WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.
WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).
WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.
United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.
Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

Yeah and I noticed when "Mayor" nagin said he wanted to get some medical and psychological help for his firefighters and police he suggested Las Vegas has plenty of hotel rooms...(how nice maybe Hawaii has some too?) Sounds like he's already spending FEMA money hand over fist...
What's scary is the fact that many DFW school districts are admitting hurricane refugees into the public schools without immunizations to hurry them through the admission process. Their theory is to ask questions later because its best for the kids. Which kids is the question people ought to be a little upset about.
Perhaps. One place you can cry openly is in most churches, and people will come over to comfort you.
The article seemed to imply they were offended and walked out - or maybe I read it wrong.
Oprah's having the bus repainted to read "Wildrest Screams".
What makes you think it's a good idea for us Texans to clean up the huge corrupt mess that is Louisiana government? I *really* do not want our local liberals to get any ideas, and I'm not all that fond of gators.
That said, the best thing that could happen to Louisiana is to become a Federal administrative district with the complete housecleaning that the Feds do best - backed up by Federal troops.
I've been listening all afternoon to an online relay of NOPD scanner. They speak to each other in "north" and "west" GPS coordinates only. They say things like "two male, one elderly" "two females/one male, one dog" because they're describing the rooftop occupants. Then, I guess there must be faster pluck'em choppers, and then medical rescue choppers, which clearly take longer. The scanner has also been discussing an oil leak somewhere that's been ongoing for hours.
I'm sorry, I've been kicking in money all week. I'm just concerned about what happens when the novelty wears off and we're stuck with a quarter million unemployed Louisianians. I hope we can get some help ourselves to take care of them or we could be screwn.
Uh just change the location where many were picking up their checks from Uncle Sugar....how many were unemployed (and looking for work) before Katrina? I'm waiting for the MSM to put out those statistics...
All right, that's it. Enough bashing the mayor. He's worked almost one full week and clearly deserves a paid holiday along with all of the other city workers.
Im afraid the totals will end up being be very high.
Reporter asked the man what should we expect? 10k, 15k?
Of course he said he doesnt know, which he probably doesnt.
Another lie by the Mayor.
They're being enrolled, but they haven't entered classes yet. From what I've read, they're going to get a full set of vaccinations right before they are allowed into classes if they cannot produce records.
Where are the cruise ships?...I read yesterday that Carnival is sending three for housing..
That is a very good point. Not only immunizations- they should probably quarantine them for awhile to make sure they don't have dysentery or worse. Will it really hurt kids to miss another week or so of school? I know as a kid, I would have liked the break...
There are already new zip codes for the Astrodome, Reunion, and the convention center.
I am certain that none of the liberals (both parties) will demand a re-districting overseen by a federal judge. No sir. Never happen.
" They are treating them as if it is all the looters on the plane, which may not be a bad idea. "
I saw a clip on FOX this morning (sound off) which showed a small group of evacuees waiting to board a helicopter. The camera panned to the left to show a LEO walking away from the group, his arms loaded with handguns and rifles.
Probably a good idea to screen everybody on both ends of the journey.
Next plane will be a military C-130 with a lot more people arriving at 3:40 CDT.
It was reported on FR the other day that 67% are on welfare in NO.....
Condi on FOX now.
