i think it was on nightline....only lasts about 15 seconds, catch it if you can...its a classic!
Someone posted earlier that the kid who commandeered the bus should be Mayor of NO.
Yeah and in a couple of years Governor of LA...
That is soooooo going to speed things up, too. We are just getting into the season where they have to change over from Summer blend to winter blend fuel... that always puts a crimp in the supply. BTW, has China offered us any of their reserves?
The media's function is emphatically NOT to deliver facts. It is to gather market share and audience, and as a sideline, to manipulate the public.
I will, thanks!
Sad commentary on some of the men of Orleans Parish who could have helped. Guess that the welfare handouts caught up this time with lack of personal responsibility and initiative to help. I saw the look on the faces of the looters -- they were as happy as could be. Disgusting.
Estimates have 75% of the US interstate tanker truck fleet involved in this.
Remember, the whole East Coast now has to be supplied by truck until more pipelines can be certified - everone east of the Mississippi is now without an oil supply - and that has to be filled by the 25% that are uninvolved.
Oh, and until Wednesday, they couldn't do that anyway. It is illegal (or was) to sell the specially formulated gas for one market or city in another market or city. Go look up "boutique blends". Since Bush got the EPA to suspend the law, we now can just produce plain gasoline at refineries and send it around the country.
All greek to me,,,I wasn't talking about a fancy tanker,,just something that could safely transport gas,,,as far as the legality of one market to another, i could care less,,,people are dying for lack of resources,,,,really, what are they gonna do between texas and mississipp arrest me??? they have their hands full,,,,but I was trying to THINK of something,,,my cousin is down there and 9 months pregnant, grandmother just had open heart surgery, brother/aunt are both asthmatic and it's hot as all get out there,,,,desperate times call for desperate measures
Take news reports with a grain of salt and a bucket of skepticism. The reporters are hysterical and I'm sure there's some serious misinformation and exaggeration going on.
Yes---everytime Jeff went to her and asked her how she was doing...and was she getting tired of standing in line...
She would just smile, and start reeling off her "blessings" and say she has no complaints...
It would be awful if anything bad has happened to her..(not that I want anything bad to happen to anyone, but she just really got to me)
I think we better let Chris Matthews & Aaron Brown in on the coverup! LOL
Sorry about the typo. I guess I was thinking of Zaire, Afghanistan, Bosnia, (and that's just recent history) of parachuting food in. Maybe I've seen too many WWII movies, but seems to be that would have been better than nothing.
Perhaps you're right - maybe that's an artifact of our age - imagine the news coverage if some pallets injured or killed some of the survivors.
Geez - Natl Guard Scanner - the idiot civilians in the EOC just don't have a clue....
Indeed but she held on until the end saying GWB was responsible for the hurricane, hoping that would make news.
Just a minor change - your proof is that there have been no reports of people being sniped. You may be right.
It may have been a lie, maybe an attempt to get more water. These are desperate times for those people - utter mass hysteria, confusion, panic, and chaos. Nobody knows what is going on.
True but it was the NO Chief of Police with 4 stars on his shoulders making the statement in a non-professional manner (almost screaming) he should have know what ws going on..he could have sent a patrol car or gone himself to talk to a general..he was with 1000 NG surely one had a radio...
I haven't heard anything about that since- hard to know at this point what's fact or fiction.
I'm no fan of the media by a very long shot. But in this case they are also human and they are reacting like I would hope that most human beings would behave.
Or, how many times have you watched people cry and die in front of your very own eyes lately? Huh?
