Exactly right!
The truth hurts, and many don't want to hear it. They want to think of all those stranded people as "vermin" and "they deserve their fate".
I believed George Bush was a leader, I'm waiting too long this week to see it.
Didn't she also say something obscene at the end of her tirade that they muted out?
Steve Harrigan will get the story. It may not have been the smartest thing, but that is what his profession used to be--reporting the news from first hand observations.
As a result, I believe what he says. I never heard a spin on his stories while he was in Iraq.
The only time I heard him express opinion was when he came home & did an interview on FOX. He said a few things I strongly disagreed with, but that was okay. It was the appropriate forum.
Imagine what would happen if Shep was in Iraq and reported like he did tonight. He would be out of there quickly.
And NO has the organization and structure to support and promote evil. Don't forget that.
Yes, it can be said about other cities. I'm not saying it is the ONLY evil place in the world. But it isn't a place I would want my kids growing up in either.
I've been really trying to absorb the news coverage. It's so surreal, I can't yet.
He has talked about one body. If he had seen more he would have shown more to make his point. Once again, you can call me mistaken but you cannot call me a liar or we are going to have a real problem.
That was a good post. Thanks for the info and insight.
Really?
And who would authorize that?
You think the mayor has the authority to any person in NO they can drive a school bus to pick up people? You need a drug test and a special driver's license for one, he doesn't run the schools number two......
You have to remember that this was a civilized law and order (for NO) city at that time.
Hindsight is 20/20.
When we have 10' of snow, nobody's hijacking plows to get us out. We have to wait for days if we have to for the city and state plows to get to us.
That's a fact.
I can understand their predicament and the need to lie about coming from the Superdome. It will be interesting to find out how he came about the initial group. Did he go get the bus on his own and pick up people on the way. Did a group send him off to get the bus?
I think it is a nice story.
Someone else can check me on this, but I think that Tubbs made racial statements yesterday or today and maybe Aaron was just trying to get her to repeat them.
I am tired of this.
Notice all reporters on scenes haven't been critisized, nor all reporters that have been there since the hurricane hit. You object to TWO, out of the hundreds behavely responsibly, there that have been justly accused of hysteria. Well, add Anderson to that mix as well.
I am not impressed by the excuses. I am not interested in responding to this any longer. I will not cease stating they need to be pulled, you can state whatever you like about them but do not do so under the assumption I'll agree or be persuaded. Nor expect me to indulge your opinion they are behaving responsibly or that anyone would do the same when it's quite clear not ALL are doing the same.
C'mon! He's witnessing the suffering of his own people. Although similar this is very different. There is no real enemy.
It's time to call it a night. Later everybody.
Disagree and I think his non response to O'Reilly's question just who HE'S blaming spoke volumes. He's there to report what he sees without finger pointing and Monday night quarterbacking.
Interesting. I'd like to see Sheps apologists explain this photo.
he was only referring to the evacuation from the convention center not taking place. he never said they were starving to death at the convention center. the medical situation there, the sanitary situation, is another story - its bad, those people can't be left there much longer.
Dog gone it!
When I quit my job, I was johnny-on-the spot with original questions.
Now that I work, I am never "first" to a thread, and my thoughts have already been articulated by others.
I need to quit again..... ;)
I thought Kip Holden had come out pretty strong about zero tolerance along with the police chief. For those who don't know, both the mayor and police chief of Baton Rouge are black. My son knows the chief and says he's really a good guy - he took some training with him.
WWL just had Je$$e Jack$son on calling New Orleans "the hull of a slave ship".
If it's that bad Je$$e, how about using your helicopter to help fly some people out????
But if we weren't supplying our troops with the necessities they needed to survive, I'd want him to passionately speak up.
I don't think any of this is being done deliberately. I think some people have so far not been cared for. It's a HUGE task. Shep is just crying (as he has for two days now) for people to help the folks at the I-10 exit - hundreds, who are exposed to the sun and dying without people giving them any communcation of what to do whatsoever.
