Steve Harrigan will get the story. It may not have been the smartest thing, but that is what his profession used to be--reporting the news from first hand observations.
As a result, I believe what he says. I never heard a spin on his stories while he was in Iraq.
The only time I heard him express opinion was when he came home & did an interview on FOX. He said a few things I strongly disagreed with, but that was okay. It was the appropriate forum.
Imagine what would happen if Shep was in Iraq and reported like he did tonight. He would be out of there quickly.
C'mon! He's witnessing the suffering of his own people. Although similar this is very different. There is no real enemy.
But if we weren't supplying our troops with the necessities they needed to survive, I'd want him to passionately speak up.
I don't think any of this is being done deliberately. I think some people have so far not been cared for. It's a HUGE task. Shep is just crying (as he has for two days now) for people to help the folks at the I-10 exit - hundreds, who are exposed to the sun and dying without people giving them any communcation of what to do whatsoever.
I heard Steve Harrigan give an interview on Fox where he seemed to be supportive of the war and Pres. Bush. Maybe that was earlier in the conflict than what you heard.
The only time I heard him angry (other than the last few days) was when O'Reilly told him the poor people of the world had brought it on themselves, etc...he was irate at that, having seen so much.
