New Orleans Mayor Fumes Over Slow Reponse

A day before President Bush headed to the hurricane-ravaged South, Mayor Ray Nagin lashed out at federal officials, telling a local radio station "they don't have a clue what's going on down here."
Federal officials expressed sympathy but quickly defended themselves, saying they, too, were overwhelmed by the catastrophe that hit the Gulf Coast region on Monday.
Nagin's interview Thursday night on WWL radio came as President Bush planned to visit Gulf Coast communities battered by Hurricane Katrina, a visit aimed at alleviating criticism that he engineered a too-little, too-late response.
Bush viewed the damage while flying over the region Wednesday en route to Washington after cutting short his Texas vacation by two days.
"They flew down here one time two days after the doggone event was over with TV cameras, AP reporters, all kind of goddamn excuse my French everybody in America, but I am pissed," Nagin said.
Nagin said he told Bush in a recent conversation that "we had an incredible crisis here and that his flying over in Air Force One does not do it justice ... I have been all around this city and that I am very frustrated because we are not able to marshal resources and we are outmanned in just about every respect."
In an interview Friday on NBC's "Today," Federal Emergency Management Agency director Michael Brown stood behind the massive federal relief effort that's under way.
"I understand the mayor's frustration. ... We have been having a continuous flow of commodities into the Superdome, there were five trucks arriving last night to feed well over 50,000 people.
"We're also diverting supplies to the convention center which I learned about yesterday and that area. ... This is an absolutely catastrophic disaster," he said.
Gov. Kathleen Blanco, who like Nagin is a Democrat, was less confrontational than the mayor.
"When the system goes down, this is pretty much what you get," she said on CBS' "The Early Show." "We don't get into the blame game. We just work with what we got."
Uh, MAYOR, one of the reasons the Federal Government hasn't been able to help these starving, thirsty people, or get them out as fast as they would like, is because your democrat constituency is SHOOTING at the relief workers. Our people should be shooting back. What' the use toting a gun if you don't FIRE it????
SHOOT THE LOOTERS
SHOOT THE HOODS AND THUGS
SHOOT THEM ON SIGHT
Where the heck are the Governor and the Mayor of this City?
They do nothing but stand around and wring their hands and complain that the Federal Government isn't doing anything to help. Where are the National Guard of Louisiana? She's supposed to call them out, not the President. Why didn't she declare martial law? Where are the local governments in this disaster. Is it because the entire state is made up of Democrats who think all goods and services come from the Federal Government? You can throw billions at this problem, but if you don't have boots on the ground, you'll accomplish nothing. The Governor and the Mayor are both useless. All they can do is complain. Get out there and help. Where's the Mayor? Is he in NO or is he in Baton Rouge? His Police force has absolutely no leadership. They need to declare martial law, and quit trying to blame others for their situation.
Do you have any sources on that? I don't remember what happened then but I'd love to have some info.
New Orleans has been so corrupt for decades, and the latest mayor is just one more in a long line of incompetent low-lifes they've elected. He and their governor are not in any way prepared to handle a situation like this. We won't hear that from the media, or the residents...who are very eager to blame Bush. They certainly didn't vote for him.
You got that right. Hey even Richard Hoagland played the race card on Coast to Coast last night. All the progressive twits are playing it. Disgusting. At one of the worse possible times in recent history, they are inciting race war. What do they want ? Do they want this to occur in all our City States ?
The NOPD chief should be explaining why he's missing 20-30% of his officers.
I heard him on CNN this morning saying "Somebody needs to get their ass down here and help!, we have the biggest godamn disaster and nobody is helping."
I would say he and the governer have lost control and needs to get out of the way and let the adults over.
Worth repeating.
Explain THIS Mayor Nagin!
I'll tell you what all this whining might very well do: cause people to resist opening up their wallets.
That picture of the busses says it all. The MSM needs to show that picture on the front page, but of course, they won't, because they won't be able to blame it on President Bush.
Interesting times to say the least. We have reports that the Nation of Islam is calling for all out war against the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department). They are trying to get two other local gangs to join them. We have the MSM trying to incite race warfare. And we have a failed Major of Hell trying to incite action against the feds.
I thought it would be funny if people tried to blame a hurricane, a NATURAL DISASTER, nay, possibly an Act of G_d Himself, on the President.
Until it happened.
How pathetic do these people have to get before the brain-endowed start ignoring them?
Bump
Conservative realize that government is pretty incompetent. Dimocrats believe it when they arrive and say "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."
Notice that we don't hear as much about looting in Mississippi or Alabama, or even other parts of Louisiana.
Uh. If NO is an example of total liberal policies in effect over a long period, it would appear that the MSM is anxious to get us all under the wonderful control of total liberal policies.
I urge Bush to take responsibility for the inadequate response by the Federal government and see if the others do the same.
