Watts Riot: 1969
King riots: 1992
Oh, there was also looting going on from those same communities after the 1994 Northridge earthquake... forgot to mention that. I lived in Santa Monica at the time, and we were waiting for them to come on down and break into the local hot tub store, try to steal a hot tub. That would have been funny.

All first responders are registered with HS in order to share information and coordinate response in the event of a terrorist attack. Many of us are part of HS. FEMA is part of it because weather doesn't stop even after we've been attacked.

Most of the costs of running a government agency go into salaries and benefits.

Exactly. He is surrounded by ungodliness and sometimes bad advice. He's a good man and doesn't deserve what the demonrats and the loony left MSM have to say about him.

I am kind of wondering where the railway CEOs are. They are probably scurrying around somewhere out there. They should have a higher profile, because they can't be seen at all.

Actioni and positive steps are long, long overdue.President Bush is already 2 steps ahead of the Governor of LA and the Mayor of NO. The mayor should just refrain from speaking to the press and do his job.

Worse thing one can do is "panic" throughout a situation like this.

This is not good. The only reason he would be doing this--again--is because internal polls are showing that the public is blaming the administration for the situation down there.Disagree. The rolling Rasmussen polling data shows President Bush's popularity in a steady climb since mid-August.

I really hate to say this, but this is starting to feel like a screw-up I thought only a flying circus like the Clinton Administration could accomplish. So apparently when then-Mayor Guiliani put words into action after 9/11, it wasn't a screw-up?
If there is any blame, it should be on the Governor of LA and the Mayor of NO for not going into action from the word "go". They both spent days dilly-dallying around.

A reporter speaking after the First Lady's presser just brought Iraq into it! YAY, the antiwar crowd has just weighed in! Expect NO to be the NEW antiwar drum!

Because a dem government [NO and LA] can never be held accountable for incompetence.Bingo! Democrats aren't held accountable in the MSM for their actions or lack thereof.

This is a speech that should not have been given--better to give no speech at all. Boy did this give the libs fodder! Let them carp. They can't do anything else right.

Hi carton253, I'm sorry. I wasn't directing that at you. It's obvious to me that you totally understand the magnitude of the situation facing our emergency responders. I just wanted to post it somewhere and your post is just where I happened to be at the time.

So Bush is the mayor of NO? If bush is so bad, then why is Miss. so much better?Because Haley Barbour is in control? Neither the Governor of LA or the Mayor of NO have been in control of the situation at all. They've been lazy and incompetant from the start.
