Even people here ask what exactly this CNN woman and The ex-mayor of New Orleans specifically want the President to do.
The ex-mayor does not come across as a leader. He comes across as a fool.
With regards to the looting, it is the mayor himself who was the inital catalyst to New Orleans' decent into anarchy when he defended thoses looting "food and water" and then told people later to "take whatever they need".
So rather than take food and water you'd have families obey the law and die? Because that's whate you're saying.
I'm not defending the casino raiders, the DVD and jewelery looters, but food and water get pretty essential after a day or so. But you're saying, "no, if - god forbid - my and my family were in such a situation [say..stuck somewhere in that Asian tsunami] I'd let my family die".
Right.
I thought there were no phones or cell phone cervice and that it's almost impossible for regular folks to travel around the city?
I wondered he he was a DNC plant. The politics has begun. Democrats will dance on anyone's grave if they think it'll get them a few votes.
Hope Rush, Laura Ingraham, etc give this clip plenty of airplay.
Jeb Bush should have been consulted. He has stared down numerous Hurricanes for the state of Florida and has great mangerial skills in organizing and mobilizing people to REACT. Prior to a storm, they have rolling evacuations. The coastal areas first, then progressively inward. Evacuations are first optional with elderly, infirm, families with tots, tourists, etc. departing. The news stations talk about continually and assist in mobilizing everyone out. Eventually, as time grows nearer, evacuations become mandatory. They pound on your door with bull horns, (police-directed by the mayors) and force the stubborn to seek shelter. They will help you gather up & herd people into FREE busses. It is very hard to evacuate the Keys and the Pennisula of Florida, much harder than NO. But, people do it repeatedly. Why gamble with what is most precious to you, your life? The shelters, already have tons of supplies and are up & running. .................Immediately after a storm, Jeb and area officials are in the air surveying the scene and lining up help to clear roads and get rescue into the area...........The bottom line for NO is that they were grossly unprepared prior to this storm and should have never allowed all of those destitute people to lie down in a flood zone with a Cat 5 Hurricane blowing at them. Stupid people being led by their Chief stupids. What yu supoze gonna happin?
You're up early too I see! This mayor has just seen his political career implode! The Feds can't some in unless the Governor asks for them to. When New York got hit Pataki got on the phone right away and asked for the calvary right away. Blanco apparently sat on her hands.

And the MSM keeps refusing to mention that liitle fact. Go figure.
These people are dying because Nagin is an idiot.
Now hes trying to put the blame on anybody but his own fool self.
Just heard on CNN that the mayor of NO "says the federal government has dropped the ball" on NO (blame Bush time) and playing the clip of him calling for every Greyhound bus in the country to evacuate people.
When was this recorded?
Well the MSM stopped reading the Constitution after the First Amendment.
RUDY RUDY RUDY where are you now
Sounds like the people looting now are after a BIT more than food and water. They're taking whatever they think they need and shooting the police.
Do you want to point out ANYWHERE where I said they 'deserve' it.
What a lot of folks are angry with is that this human tragedy is all about a failure of politicians and this interview is a perfect example of that issue.
I can see though that you are very sympathetic to him. I would urge you to be more sympathetic to the people. the sooner the mayor is out of the way (based upon his interview), the better.
Welcome to FR btw.

"Actualy, he sounds so desperate and angry that he DOES sound like he's starting to lose it. Like he's going to give himself a stroke and be no good to anyone. He needs to put on a calmer facade for the public."

This is so very true. A couple days ago, some took President Bush to task for not being more emotional. I strongly disagreed about that, for the very reasons that you mention here, and the mayor is demonstrating. This is the time to be as businesslike as possible, as dispassionate as possible... we know this tragedy is affecting all of those involved in trying to get the situation under control.
I would wager that more than a couple rescue workers will die because they push too hard because of that.
