A detachment of 300 Arkansas National Guard troops landed in anarchic New Orleans on Thursday, with the authorization to shoot and kill "hoodlums" Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said."Three hundred of the Arkansas National Guard have landed in the city of New Orleans," said Blanco.
"These troops are fresh back from Iraq, well trained, experienced, battle tested and under my orders to restore order in the streets," Blanco said.
"They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded.
"These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so if necessary and I expect they will," said Blanco.
If she had actually made such a comment, it would be all over the U.S. media.
funny that it takes my guys from ARKANSAS to bring order to this decrepit situation. Just sitting in Afghanistan wishing that I could be home to help. And whats with all the politics being thrown in...how did the POTUS cause this one? I guess history there in American started when "W" became president.
Translation: "Howard Dean called again and finally gave me permission to look tough." ;)
THEggUARD FROM ARKANSAS ARE VERRY GOOD AT SHOOTING.
Better late ....
Well just heard on Greta they now have 300 National Guard, nothing about shoot to kill orders.
Thank God!
I think she sounds nutty, but she understands that lots, lots of people don't appreciate that the Dems running the show in New Orleans have let lawlessness occur like this. Her "toughness" is a couple days late and a few billion dollars in looted property ago.
Yeah, that lady has lost it 2 days ago. She is needs to get a grip. And as far as, 'shoot to kill'....
IT. WILL. NEVER. HAPPEN. folks
I don't see it. Their aim is precise, and they are a last resort.
The trash that's left are not going to leave, so they may as well join the rest of the floaters in the water.
Thank you for your service!
It's "Whoop-a-a$$" time now!
It's possible that the French reporter was not quite getting the subtleties of the English language. The only quote from the article that has anything to do with the headline is:
"'These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so if necessary and I expect they will,' said Blanco."
This is good news. A little late, but better than never...
This sounds false.
"They have M-16s and they are locked and loaded."
Would the weepy lady say this?
I find this doubtful.
She's still writing checks on someone else's accounts, but I suppose it is better to hear some overdue faux-tough talk than what she has been delivering so far. Godspeed, Guardsmen.
My reference is entirely to her words and how they are constructed. Read the quotes out loud to yourself as they are written. It sounds like the paper is quoting a whiney 13 year old girl (and I DO have current experience in that regard). Really, Blanco sounds like someone who is WAY over her head, knows it, and is desperately trying to assert herself.
I would like to know how it is she has time to talk to a French reporter in the first place.
Seems like that is allllll she has been doing giving interviews.
