EVERBODY (evacuees, reporters, etc) has had nothing to say but praise for the Coast Guard. They have been stellar
"Is he running down the road yelling "Ashley, Ashley, you're home!!"
LOL, and I would tell him, "Frankly Scarlet, I don't give a damn"
That's certainly a very big part of this. I think Bush has had to take control of one damned thing after another before anything started to get done.
Part of the job of FEMA's chief administrator is keeping the press busy so everyone else can do their job. Think about that.
Barbour has a job for life in MS, IMHO. So does the AL Gov.
No one is going to blame Bush for an act of God or its effects. The American people are reasonable people.
The left makes this mistake over and over while the right always worry's needlessly that the next liberal spin will work.
That's what Sharpton was already peddling.
That's what FOX reported, there is just too many security concerns for a touchdown..
Maybe with a more accurate, on the ground frame of reference, if the President was angry with FEMA, he may see what they are dealing with.
IOW, FEMA can only work with what they have and NO did not give them anything to work with.
It has to come back to local. NO is an example of what can go wrong (everything!) if disaster planning is not a major issue for each locaility.
Can someone post pictures for us cubical prisoners please!
Never has the statement, "You get the government you deserve.", been proven in gigantic, glowing letters.
I can't find the exact article now.
There are a ton of articles that Google turns up about how the Sierra Club and the other environazi groups have worked to block the Corps with regard to levees, though.
Google something like "Corps Sierra Club levee 1998" and expanded variations and you'll see tons of articles - many by the groups themselves in their proudly crowing newsletters about how they have been fighting to keep the swamps.
Colonial pipeline.
Not to mention that President Bush just praised the FEMA director - "You're doing a hellova job."
If you don't like that, press Congress to change the Constitution, and the law.
You are over-simplifying. Lawyers can disagree about the precise extent but there is a very strong argument that the president has the inherent constitutional authority to employ federal military force to stop insurrections such as we have seen. The Posse Comitatus act limits the use of the military (actually only part of it) but it contains exceptions, and many legal experts believe that the president's inherent constitutional authority goes beyond even those exceptions.
Has John Kerry-Heinz been heard from?
Here is a web cam link in downtown NO of one of the fires. Compliments of Interdictor in the middle of this mess.

Yeah, but this is what we knew he was doing behind the scenes. He looked like a Leader because he has been leading.
