Ten Year Old Arrested for Giving Food to Terri Schiavo Apologizes

Joshua's arrestTAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo.  Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration.  In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.

The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong.  The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing.  It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too.  I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless.  So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."

Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why.  I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."

LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today.  Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son.  "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth.  The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted.  "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."

Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son.  Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."

While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

Movie Review of Just Like Heaven mocks Terri.

Comments from the St Pete Times to follow. "Artsandentertainment: Bait-and-switch of a bad idea

http://www.sptimes.com/2005/09/16/Artsandentertainment/Bait_and_switch_of_a_.sht ml

"Let's forget the routine mechanics, sitcom-level performances, cheap special effects and lazy screenwriting that could make Just Like Heaven merely a mediocre movie. Let's go straight to the reason why it's downright lousy:

This is an alleged "romantic comedy" echoing the distinctly unromantic, unfunny Terri Schiavo case."

FV SAYS: The reviewer is correct. There was NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT TERRI BEING MURDERED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

No, he has already been rewarded by FL citizens aned officials for "his" "courage" and "bravery" under "fire." Even the Reagan-appointee Sandra Day O'Connor has lauded George W. Greer.

"His Justice will come in Hell"

God please bring justice to the Florida executioners belonging to the judicial system of Pinnelas County. They have committed a cruel and barbaric act by starving one of the weak and helpless. We know that for every day you do not bring these people to justice, a much more severe fate awaits them in the world to come. God, Your will is unsearchable, but I can only pray that these men will pay the price now, rather than waiting until after they pass from this world. Why is it so hard for others to feel your coming judgement,God, of both these men and so many others like them? In your Son's name, Amen.

From FV: "There is NO BAN in Florida. People can still be starved and dehydrated by judges here. Hearsay evidence is the standard. Florida is the starvation state. A federal ban will save millions of lives in the United States. State's rights can't handle this issue. It is a Civil Rights issue imo and THAT IS A FEDERAL MATTER."

FYI, 8mmMauser
Thanks, FV

I just received an email reply, not an auto response from Governor Bush's citizen services... My source is involved in grants for extracurricular instructional activities for schoolchildren. They're a reliable source and I'm shocked that Jeb Bush emailed me back. I guess as long as it's not about Terri, Jeb Bush's Citizen Services will email people back.

Everyone have a pleasant weekend. Don't let the trolls give you a bum steer.

(this link leads to many, many pages of documentation about Terri being set up and murdered.) Judge Greer never looked at all the evidence yet we are supposed to treat posts as if they are evidentiary i.e. Exhibit A, Exhibit B. I don't owe LIBERALS or anyone else the time of day.

I am shocked that Jeb's citizen services emailed me back. I think I've let him & his staff have it via email numerous times as well as by phone, deservedly so. Well, if he's trying to fix Florida's Republican Party, it's a little late for that.

The Pinellas GOP is still blinded by Greer's money bags. They talked to me of judgment day and I said that arrests will actually take place, not just God's retribution. They are not doing well cold calling Pinellas Republicans.

I'm joining the Hillsborough Cty GOP. At least they aren't infested with Greer's dirty money. I'm not going to actually do much for them but get on their mailing list.

TERRI DIED BECAUSE OF DIRTY MONEY. There was plenty to go around.

And not pictured yet: Sheriff Everett Rice who resigned as Pinellas Cty Sheriff to go to Tallahassee as a member of the Fla House where he voted against Terri's life. He hired Michael Schiavo before he left for Tallahassee to work at the jail. Pinellas County is DIRTY.

BLAME GINNIE BROWN-WAITE [sic]FOR THE JESSICA LUNSFORD ACT. She pulled the lever to pull Terri's feeding tube but quickly stepped in to showboat over Florida's sexual predators. Fine and dandy but the US Congress went too far. BIG BROTHER IS HERE AND IT IS EXPENSIVE. Now decent people have to prove they are decent.

What in the world does Ginny Brown-Waite have to do with the controversial Florida Jessica Lunsford Act? Ms. Brown-Waite is a U.S. Congresswoman representing the 5th district of Florida. She had neither input nor vote in the Florida Jessica Lunsford Act (which requires school districts to screen all contractors, and which has come under considerable fire, as reported in the media, of late), which originated as HB1877 in the Florida state legislature, was "engrossed" (passed by both houses of the Florida state legislature) and "enrolled" (sent to Governor Bush for signature) on 4/21/05, and signed into law by the Governor on 5/2/05. The version of HB1877 which Radh posted previously, in post #717 (here) which is noted (top left) as "enrolled" and "engrossed 2," was the correct link to the Florida law all along (which--ahem--could have been determined by anyone reading the first few lines, assuming that reader was sufficiently well-informed to know what "engrossed" and "enrolled" means...LOL!).

But I digress. U.S. Representative Ginny Brown-Waite introduced the federal "Jessica Lunsford Act" on 4/6/05. This act, which was immediately referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, was then referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security on 5/10/05, which called for, and held, hearings on the proposed bill (H.R. 1505) on 6/9/05. This bill is still in committee, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with requirements for background checks by school districts or theatres or any other entity. In fact, it's a pretty simple and straightforward bill (those who would like to read it can do so here). Basically, this is a simple bill, which calls for better tracking and monitoring of convicted violent sexual predators. Why anyone would find it objectionable or inappropriate to tighten and improve the monitoring of convicted violent sexual predators is beyond me, but apparently you do, or you wouldn't have posted the little rant I've quoted above.

But the fact remains that Congresswoman Brown-Waite's proposed bill in the U.S. House of Representatives is unrelated to (and bears absolutely no resemblence to) the controversial Florida "Jessica Lunsford Act" which was signed into Florida law by Governor Bush on 5/2/05, and which became effective on 9/1/05, so I remain perplexed by your rant connecting Ms. Brown-Waite with the Florida law.

This post is in response to my 745, though my name is not referenced. (Isn't that a breach of protocol?) Are you saying your email response indicates a $2000 price tag for a background check? You're a little unclear here.

Could you post the email for us? If they truly are looking at $2000 a pop, perhaps we can refer them to the source in the article I linked, and save them $1900 per background check.

There is no "source," Radh. Surely you understand that? The "$2,000" nonsense is made up of whole cloth. It doesn't exist. But you have been (and will continue to be) told that the "source" won't be posted because either 1) it's a superduper-doublesecret-privileged-information sort of thing, or 2) you (a general "you" applying to any questioner/challenger of these outrageous and unsupportable claims) are not worthy.

Truth and "debate" have nothing to do with it.

Thank you, tbritton, for your erudite exposition. I thought I had linked the proper bill, but did not in fact know what "engrossed" and "enrolled" meant in this context. I appreciate the information!

You're welcome, Radh. I think that some confusion arises because folks don't realize that there are two Jessica Lunsford Acts--the one which is a Florida law, and one which is a proposed, but pending, federal bill, which bear absolutely no resemblence to each other beyond their being both named for Jessica Lunsford and their both being measures designed to deal more effectively with convicted sexual predators/offenders (although with significantly different approaches and mandates).

Beyond that, it appears that there may be those who do not know the difference between Florida state legislators and U.S. legislators.

Welcome to FR. :-)
