Arrested and Jailed...BFD....announce over bull horns that they will be SHOT.

And we have just the men to do the shooting all around NO. This IS a case of life or death and the shooters are choosing death. Fine, GIVE IT TO THEM.

Goddammit, people's lives are at stake. This is where you need regular infantry to be deputized by LSP'S and to go in there with shoot to kill orders.

An infantry battalion needs to be airlifted in there from Fayetteville with a week's rations and Camelbacks. All Al Anbar veterans. Deputize them, then cut them loose by squads. You've got technicals running around NOLA right now who do not realize that they will be dying of disease soon, and who are killing each other for territory and swag. This is Mogidushu stuff and it needs to be stopped NOW. The technicals need to be killed. Bottom line. There is a LOT of narcotraficantes who are trying to get their supply out of NOLA as well, or to protect their newly won "turf".

The oldest law in Texas needs to be applied here: some people need killin'. I'm sorry, but it's that simple. You need combat infantry for this job. The New Orleans Police have been unbelievably corrupt and incompetent from day one. Some even took part in the looting. This is the legacy of Huey Long come home to roost.

Send in the infantry. Deputize them to make it nice for Posse Comitatus, but get it the hell done.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

It is usually that one small, unplanned snag that screws up operations. In this case, it seems to be a matter of the state asking the feds.

Hope they put this on their review list.

...that "mayor" Nagin has been as quiet as a churchmouse all week long.

Not exactly. I actaully think he has been told to shut up... since Saturday he has been giving one dire warning after another: flee for your lives, it's the worse thing we've ever seen, thousands dead, too many cooks in the kitchen to get anything done, etc.

He's been right almost every time, unfortunately.

This has been declared a National Emergency. The Feds have ultimate control now.

They have been dropping items -- I put up a series of emails I received last night from the AF and Army but the media is not covering that aspect. Now it is not very safe for helicopters as they have been fired on this morning.

"Can you confirm that "too dangerous" meant because of the danger from violent rescuees? Or was it "too dangerous" becasue of floating debris etc.?"

There appears to be an awfull lot of natural gas bubbling up from broken lines, also looks like a lot of gas and oil floating on the water as well.

Forget the National Guard: we need the US Marine Corps in there.

There is great danger in President Bush assuming the governorship of Louisiana.

This must be at the request of Blanco.

I just heard Paul Harvey excusing the looters because they don't have access to ATM machines and they're hungry.

Heaven help us, and save us from these bleeding hearts. They'll get us all killed.

I supported the Governor and Mayor at first, because they had the job and they needed support. But now, it is clear that this was bungled big-time. Next time when people vote for Governor and/or Mayors, they need to really think about how they would handle situations like this.

I fully support this idea. The problem must be dealt with severely and quickly. I was accused of being "relativist" yesterday on this in another thread. The looter-lovers are coming out in force!

The mayor and governor are already beyond redemption for their inaction. My point is BUSH has now openly stated that lawlessness will not be tolerated: He needs to give the order to put things in order by whatever means necessary.

Blame the incompetent Governor -- she has the power to order Marshal Law -- the idiot mayor did not.

1) It's "martial" law.

2) I heard that the Louisiana Constitution and statutes do not provide for martial law. The closest thing is a "state of emergency", which they are under already.

"Escape from New Orleans"

Ain't it the truth?

I feel like I'm watching every book ever written and every film ever screened.

And frankly it's vaguely unsettling.

I begin to wonder...could this be what finally brings the country down? Like a pile of carefully placed Dominos I begin to wonder if the rest of the world wasn't right; that America is nothing but a big paper tiger with no substance.

FEMA had to suspend operations because of run amok crime? I then wonder did all the think tanks set into motion by 9-11 ever think of this? Is there a plan?

Listen...a whole bunch of innocent people CAN'T be rescued because of thugs, thieves and evil. It's the absolute WORST thing I imagine for my country.

At this point, worst case scenario, no one else can be rescued. Everyone still in the city dies or somehow survives in the jungle.

This will set our country back fifty years.

If we make it through this.

Bear with me folks. I'll get over it.

There are thousands of people there who are drug or alcohol addicts, who are most likely going thru withdrawal right now.

Add that to others who are just plain starved and thirsty, and it's a recipe for disaster.

I hope it's not due to looters shooting at them.

Several freepers predicted that yesterday.

Um...why else would they have suspended boat rescues? It seems to be the only kind of danger I would see that could prevent them...thugs "keeping it real" and trying to "cap the man".

Pathetic. These criminals deserve the cesspool they're wading in and living in, and all the suffering that follows. They should have been shot dead yesterday. Now they are preventing the real innocent, sick, and suffering from getting help.

This is downright infuriating.
