It's only a matter of time before South Louisiana takes a direct hit from a major hurricane. Billions have been spent to protect us, but we grow more vulnerable every day.

An excellent piece for some in depth background. Also very long. I haven't, and probably won't read the whole thing.
Haven't heard from you ladies in a long time; hope all's well, or as well as can be expected. My hopes and prayers are with you.

Prophetic indeed. I am still wondering why so many stayed when they were told to leave. Now they are screaming angry.

Gee, I wonder if the MSM will pick up the story?? The story has actually been around for a while and I suspect most people of Nawlins were intimately familiar with the potential threat. The threat to New Orleans has been discussed many times here on FR, although I haven't seen this particular series of articles referenced.

I am still wondering why so many stayed when they were told to leave. From the article, they estimated roughly 100,000 would not have transportation to get out of town in the event of an evacuation order. I imagine the same could be said of many/most other major metro areas around the country.

Thanks-- 2002 | Special Report - Times Picayune-- I've seen reports going back to at least 2000 outlining exactly what happened to NO. They can't claim they were not warned repeatedly.
