Hostage Situation in New Orleans

Just a heads up, armed looters have taken over one of the medical centers in New Orleans where the injured people were being sent. They are holding the entire staff of the hospital hostage and firing at the national guard. An FBI SWAT team has just been flown in (from Baton Rouge I believe) and they are just now getting situated. I'm not sure of any online scanners that are up monitoring the state trs. That is where alot of traffic is going on at.

LSP Troop B is requesting immediate backup. Troopers, riot squad, and national guard. He said the crowd is triple the size it was earlier and they are about to be overrun.

The location is 610 and eleshafield(spelling?).

Should I make another thread that has events going on down there? Lots of stuff has gone on and half of it never makes it on the news or anything.

I would, however, participate in an armed gang shooting anybody looting and terrorizing a hospital. Don't they have any law-abiding citizens with guns in that town?

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Hell, when we've had to bugout in the past the first things that get secured in the vehicles are the family guns.

I saw a report about pharmacies having to lock up their narcotics and turn them over to the DEA if they were not going to be able to use them within 48 hours. If that procedure was followed, there are no drugs, or very few in the local drug stores.

Give me a break. You know what I meant. Come in and have a presence there as law and order. I imagine they would stand exactly where the people are standing. None of this will stop until there is a law and order presence - as you full well know. They will not stop robbing on their own.

Looting the stores is one thing, but the med centers? I thought there was martial law in effect? They need stronger action. It's deteriorating fast.

I myself doubt this is a "sleeper cell" but to answer your question...I remember seeing a news report on the risk of terrorists getting into certain secured (or not so secured) areas of major hospitals because they have some sort of radio active stuff.

Well you made the second post before I answered but I think anyone who believes some sleeper cell is in the New Orleans flood to attack a hospital is NUTS... and you can tell Ben Lurken I said so! ;-)

Diva, your nephew and his comrades in blue are in my prayers as they go about their monumental task.
I've seen NO LE in action before. They are good and what is going on there now must just sicken them. This is "their" city. Don't be concerned about the two cops if they were stealing - it does not reflect back on the good guys in my book.

Where did you hear that or do you have a link? You could hear that about any large city - even NYC (gasp) But don't you think that now is not the time to spread rumors/gossip about the NO LE? They are putting their lives on the line more than ever right now.
