It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....
If they play games at a time like this...
Even the ACLU won't save them.
And if they do another 9-11 or something of that scale...
I wouldn't be surprised if we nuked somebody--
there are times you just don't wanna f*** with the US.
Prayers for all!
Residential homes are shattered north of highway 90, bottom, in Biloxi, Miss., Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 after hurricane Katrina passed through the area.
A field of debris is all that is left of what used to be apartment buildings on the barren slabs of concrete from this neighborhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Hard Rock Casino, scheduled for its grand opening Sept. 8, is badly damaged Tuesday Aug. 30, 2005 after Hurricane Katrina passed through the area.
I read earlier that it was totally demolished, the giant oaks were uprooted too.
Does anyone here know the safe/dry route out of N.O. My friend is near hwy.90 and belle chase... i was hoping that hwy.90 west to Houma is workable... He had a stroke last year and his girlfriend died last week... he has 4 dogs and would not leave them ... now he is willing to leave but i feel that we need to help him get to a place where we can meet him.// he has only 1/2 tank of gas... there are no atm machines or gas stations in the area.. he has nowhere to get water or his insulin... no cooling for his meds...please help with the route... thanks.
As for the dead thousands.. there is nothing i can say... but i prayed that night and was physically and mentally ill.. I suffered through Betsy.... the suffering and pain that the survivors are going to experience is beyond anything any of us can comprehend...
I had that same thought, Doug. :O(
When I read 350+ mph gusts I quit reading. At those speads not even grass would remain.
FWIW I still use CB (it's better now that most of the nutz are gone. Kinda like the way it was before they came.) and my family uses FRS for low level comm, although it isn't as good as some claim.
The Wife and Kidz are also familiar with shortwave. Although we aren't hams we still use an old RS DX150 receiver and sometimes check in with the local hamfests.

I really don't know what to say, this is so hard to believe that so many would be caught so offguard.. Prayers that this is not true and prayers if it is..
The house I mentioned on my previous post was built ABOVE the high water mark of Camille. This house flooded to the ceiling. The people got in the small sailboat they had tied in the back yard. I had the address of the house but don't remember where it was.
This feels surreal. Like we will all wake up and life will be like it was last Sunday. I was obsessed with wallpaper and paint colors. Now I could care less.
On second thought, make that 24 hours later. That's about how long they must've been aware of the magnitude of the death toll if this is true.
Three comments...
I am surprised anyone is surprised...
We all knew the damn hurricane was coming...
Enough with the prayers and the OMG's...
PS: Everyone is born with a death sentence...
Yeah, before landfall, we had an "expert" or two here who wanted to drop nuclear weapons on the thing.
We could end up with the greatest death toll since the Galveston tragedy in 1900 and an unprecedented physical destructive toll. It could be a decade or more before Louisana, Alabama and Mississippi recovers from this unfortunate storm....
ping to your post
"After touring the destruction by air, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said it is not of case of homes being severely damaged, "they're simply not there. ... I can only imagine that this is what Hiroshima looked like 60 years ago." "
I was watching a helicopter shot of some inundated suburb when I realized what I thought were houses submerged up to their roofs were really the floating detached roofs of totally destroyed homes; must have been scores of them in that one shot alone. I can only imagine how bad it is down there.
Some of the prophetic docs at the link
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1472056/posts
speak about such things happening supposedly between now and the end of January, if I recall correctly.
And I think a NONChristian sort was predicting something the end of Sept and the last half of Dec.
We could have done without your comments.
Rest in Peace
Victims lost to Hurricane Katrina
My prayers will be with the friends and families who now mourn the passing of all these victims.
Blessings,
trussell
If you want on/off my prayer ping list, please let me know. All requests happily honored.
