It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.

I didn't say I agreed with him, mind you. Just thought it was interesting and wondered what others, including Headache have to say about it.

Time will tell and when it turns out that it is true we will remind him of this thread and if, by the Grace of God, it isn't then we will have been scare-mongers and we're tough, we can take the criticism. After all, we post on FR we're pretty much flameproof.
Wow......incredible. Looks like many houses were pushed right off their foundations to float away. I wonder how they anchor the sill plates to the foundations down there.
The only comment to be made is how the news comes out in the end. Is it fear mongering to tell the truth? Hugh, sometimes guy...

I heard Hugh. He said it was fear mongering. That it was "designed to torture" people. That the poster made it up.
Tell Hugh thanks for the exposure. This story needs to be told as I have spoken to people in NY and NJ who tell me that they don't consider Mississippi and Louisiana to be a real part of the U.S., only major cities really deserve attention in situations like this.
I hate to say it but I have heard this from people in Los Angeles to New York over the last 48 hours who could care less.
Saying things like "It didn't even lead off our local news...it was like the 4th story in..." or "I have a business to run and my own life to live...I don't have time to worry about a 3rd world state like Mississippi...who goes there anyway?"
Outrageous...but whatelse do you expect from the liberal cities of NY and Los Angeles?
It's one thing to say that you shouldn't post an unsourced story. But it's a leap to say that it was done to torture people and that you made it up.
Btw, I don't even know who he is so why would I care what he thinks?

Hugh is one of the very best commentators around. He goes farther in depth than most of his peers. He's a law professor and he has good insight. But that doesn't keep him from being wrong at times.
I knew what I was looking for in his speech at this critical moment......and I didn't find it.
GW runs hot and cold in his speeches. Today, an inspiring Churchill he was not.

I wanted to puke. I reminded her that that is why liberals are looked at as unpatriotic. It's this global mentality that we must care about everyone equally that sickens me. Personally, I'll put my own countrymen before all others, that simple.

I really don't get why Hugh is doing this. It's one thing to not find the info credible for whatever reason, but to go further and call it "fearmongering" and designed to "torture" people and that the OP was lying...unreal. What MFH posted here is NO different that what Hugh links to on blogs.
I like Hugh, by the way, but my opinion of him has gone down significantly because of this.
