Astonishing Exclusive From Mississippi [hundreds if not thousands dead]
Paramedic Rescue Operation | 8-31-05 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 08/30/2005 10:10:45 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

It is with heavy heart I write this...

I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.

He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.

Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.

They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.

The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.

The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.

More to follow....

Andrew was terrible, but it hit a region of homes that were much better constructed than lower MS/LA. The swath of damage was smaller as well, and the problem was wind... not surge. It's easier to protect yourself from wind than 30-40 feet of water mixed with wood.

Let's not pile on them, they still have a long, difficult road ahead. Literally....For whatever reason, these people are also vulnerable and suffering right now.

Well said...thank you.

IMO, if you could stop "time" your number is high for LA based on current news accounts. But as aft_lizard said, it can/will increase.

This went from a measly tropical storm to a ferocious monster all teeth and claws in the relative blink of an eye.

I wouldn't call days a 'blink of an eye'. I think the big problem is that those who stayed had a false sense of securtiy because of the past hurricane warning predictions that proved to be over rated.

One must not try to outguess Mother Nature...

I'm not endorsing the uninterrupted flight of news orgs over disaster areas. My point was about the lack of "independent" verification of the posted info. That's it. Do I need further explanation?

As a matter of fact, it's not as if the national media doesn't have a history of quashing or fabricating news as it sees fit. "Cigar, Mr. President?", "Whoops, sorry about that blue dress, hon!"

"Those who earnestly endeavor to seek God first; Love Him and others and follow His Priorities and rules are blessed."

After the Tsunami I saw a report. One man lost his whole family and was angry and said something to the effect that "there is no God". Another man had also lost his whole family (both men Muslims). He was saying that his family was in a better place and he was praying that God would help him through it, etc.

So yes - to all it's a tragedy. And some will turn their hearts to something beyond the house and car and boat and job that are now gone.

Prayers with those who have lost everything - especially those that have lost loved ones.

Bay St. Louis is largely destroyed. Same with Waveland. Same with Pass Christian.

Granted. But many of you assume relatively low evacuation rates. I see no reason to think so. Actually, I think the number of deaths on all sides is exaggerated as we've seen in many other news stories over the years (initial reporting on 9/11, AIDS deaths, etc.). By and large, the MSM and governments greatly exaggerate these things.

The upshot of all this, IMHO, is that you seem to be going out of your way to challenge the specifics of MFH's post, but acknowledge yourself, in a guess, that we could have 1500 dead. There is no more reporting to support that guess than there is to support a contention of 'thousands' being dead. But, nonetheless, you view it as a reasonable guess.

As I said plainly, it's a wild guess. Actually, I'll be surprised if the count hits 1,000.

"I have yet to see one picture of a dead victim of Katrina.." You must be watching ESPN. I switch betweem FOX, CNN & MSNBC, and have seen at least five videos with bodies, two of which had been covered.

Of this there is no doubt, relatively speaking, those homes in MS/LA are built out of toothpicks, but I am speaking more to the stories that get passed around during and immediately after a disaster.

Your proselytizing all over this thread is really annoying and is detracting from the discussion.

A time-out would be great.
