The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

maybe he confiscated them from a looter Very good point. I shouldn't have assumed that he had taken them

And the cop is carrying those things to register them into evidence? To spend 10 minutes putting them back on the store shelves?

Last night a journalist caught two female LEO looting at WalMart in the shoe department. They were actually selecting what they thought looked "cute". He had it on video and part of it was shown last night. They announced that the whole vdeo would be shown on the Today show this morning. Anyone see it and I'm wondering if it may be available on the net?

C130 just landed at Louis Armstrong International Airport with 300 extra security for the Tulane Hospital standoff

Source for that last part? Sounds like a pretty specific assignment for 300 troops.

I wouldn't mind it being true, though.

One thing that's very maddening to me right now is how the alphabet networks seem to be ignoring this story. If this were San Francisco or Los Angeles or Boston or New York, they'd be all over this wall-to-wall. But because it's "just New Orleans," it doesn't seem to merit the attention it needs.

As usual, the thread is going faster than I can read. The military should take advantage of the lack of interest, and shoot to kill. I cannot believe what I am reading. They're trying to loot Children's Hospital? Shoot them, and let the bodies float down the street.

Don't worry, the MSM doesn't speak for most of us. After worrying and praying for the survivors, we also worry about the rich history surrounding the areas that have been destroyed.

"Water from the lake rising" just doesn't sound like good news to me. If it means what I think it means, the levees on the other side of town on the Mississippi River now have flood waters on the wrong side. The river levee breaks -- the weight of the entire Mississippi will fall on New Orleans.

I betcha the idiots that decided to let the prisoners loose, have probably sat around with their buddies and bashed Bush for the way he has handled the war in Iraq...

you know, letting the prisoners escape, and the army disperse, and the looting happen...

HMMMMMMMMMM sound familiar??????

The cops that were confronting looters on Fox were aiming shotguns at them. When the looter dropped the stolen goods, the cop then went on to the next looter. He didn't bother to pick up the property.

that miltary spokeman was telling the truth - he was well informed on the proper use of the guard and the military. its up to Blanco, if she is a dimwit, that had better be made obvious to people before any federal takeover starts. because if that happens, the media will then start blaming Bush for every looter shot. we don't need that.
