The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

There was not one friggin public transportation option out offered for those without cars from NO. None, nada nothing. And that is a fact. There still isn't.

What else would you have him do?

Fireside *chat*, as far as I can tell.

That was my thought when I came across that picture earlier this evening. Some dissent on an earlier thread said that there was no way that enough buses could be found to make a difference.

Guess I understood wrong.

Again?

As for assisted or "enforced" evacuations, I already posted about this, you cannot force people to leave who don't want to leave.

How many more times can you be wrong in one night? Are you going for some sort of thread record?

You and I never discussed forcing people to leave.

Funny, I thought we had an agreement

There's another one of your problems: you think because YOU say something, it's correct.

I thought you were satisfied to avoid posting to each other

I'm never "satisifed" when I see misinformation posted on FR -- and you're loaded with it.

Actually, there was a mandatory evacuation order for much the Mississippi Gulf Coast, as of Sunday morning. Casinos closed at 2AM on Sunday.

That you didn't hear about the order in the national media is a function of their New Orleans focus. But I'm sure the local Gulfport-Biloxi stations carried all relevant information.

The one along St. Charles street? I remember it fondly. I have ridden it several times. It took one to the Cammander's Palace, a very fine historic restaurant.

"Sticking 30,000 people in a potential Deathtrap, without food, water and facilities, including medical, is NOT a plan..."

I completely agree. Those in power, should have had an evacuation plan for those who had no transportation or money to leave on their own. Now it's almost 3 days later - with a threat of rising water - they are still working on discovering what the so called plan * IS *.

No, it's pretty well understood that you've got that one locked up. I just thank goodness I'm not on your ping list anymore - the "misinformation daily." :)
