They fed them candles? : )
Since Shep is from that part of the country; I'm not surprised he was torn up. Thanks for the info.
Under martial law, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS.
You also cannot sue for anything the govt or its agents do under martial law.
*shudder* I keep thinking about the kids and babies in there.
I understand. but right now, its Blanco & Nagin's problem - let them issue shoot on sight orders.
Did she happen to mention any postive experiences that people are having? I believe she said there would be some....
If you all have not seen it, please turn on Olbermann (I know I know) and watch the first ten minutes -----he runs a complete clip of the damage.
It is mind numbing.
The 3000 pound sand bags would have done nothing except add more silt to the flooded areas. I was working on a very small dam once (less than a couple of acres) I was in a hundred thousand pound excavator. It rained real hard while I was working and I got stuck in the mud and the water was rising all around me. All I could do was throw water at the dam with the bucket to breach the dam before the engine went under water. I got a small trickle started over the top and within 5 minutes, the force of the water carried me through the dam to the other side like I was in a tonka toy. I really lucked out as the water never made it to the turbo inlet. If a tiny little pond can do that with a hundred thousand pounds, the Pontchartrain would roll big bags of sand like grains of sand.
wtf?
Had events gone like they should, NO would have been cleared of water in 2 weeks. Pumps failed, sandbags collapsed... UGH... A mess.
Email to Aaron Brown earlier.

Why do you persist trying to blame Bush. I'm in utter disgust at some of the comments that CNN talking heads are saying. Thinking people know that the local Democrat politicians in New Orleans have had years to prepare for this disaster. Now that a catastrophe has occurred you want to blame the president. Seems to me that nothing will satisfy your narrow mindedness but for Bush to grab a bucket and bail water.
Shame on you for showing you bias in such an insignificant manner
Bump,,,and good night all.
No they cooked them breakfast by candle light and using those special burners... ~LOL~
He's got the whole Federal government and the military behind him ..after the decision to evacuate. He only had to have the common sense and the spine to listen to the experts in the weather field and not quibble about legalities or liability issues .. just saving the precious lives of his citizens. What you're seeing now is the meltdown AFTER the realization that he gave the order too late.
I'm guessing that this man will probably end up with millions of $$ in his pocket by the time this is all over in 2-3 years or so, and will likely rival Jesse or Al for Victim of the Decade. And he'll probably be voted back in for many terms, until he decides to take his fortune and "spend more time with his family."
What is up with the cable channels? Fox, MSNBC, CNN, all in repeats now! I am stunned!
I believe the good people of NO have voted twice on bonds to upgrade the equipment and levees and have voted no both times.
I got slammed HARD for talking math........
And actually it is close to 800,000 across the area.
They just don't get it.
Am I the only one who remembers when the National Guard used to be called out to prevent this kind of crap?
