Several people have requested a thread JUST for images of the storm.
Post them here, please.
All caused by Storm Surge. How far onshore did it go? Anyone caught in it is DEAD.
It's actually a "Floatel" a Sea-borne Hotel for Oil Workers.
I wonder if they're allowed to shoot the looters?
With those "toys", I should HOPE so!!!
Those dudes are in a dry area. Hadn't seen any pics of armed officers yet, ty.
I heard Steve Harrigan say that a 1/4 mile inland everything was flat. Another report said devastation 2 mi inland so I don't know.
The only thing safe to drink?
I heard it was not an oil rig but the crew station for the rig. I don't know if that is accurate since it came from Sheppard Smith.
Same here....I would never leave my cats....my best friends:-)
cute putty
I heard they were sent to an aquarium in Florida, so that's good news...
713 is the one I told you about.
Here is a link to NASA photos of the storm damage. I looked over the posts but may have missed if it has been posted here before.

The damage is intense.
Amy Maher is a coordinator for a national organization called Noah's Wish, which works to save as many pets as possible during such catastrophes.
More than a hundred Noah's Wish volunteers are expected to arrive in Louisiana tomorrow.
Various Louisiana animal welfare groups are managing animal evacuations and recovery plans for New Orleans pets and displaced animals.
The Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association is currently accepting pets at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, LSU in Shreveport, the Monroe Civic Center for small animals and the Ike Hamilton Center for large animals in Monroe.
Pets are also being accepted at the Farmer's Market in Alexandria, and the LSU Agriculture Center at Parker Coliseum in Baton Rouge.
There has been virtually no media coverage of this remote area - but hundreds or thousands of people may have died here. The residents who were sensible enough to evacuate the area have been pleading with the news networks and state government for any information, to no avail. This is the most underreported aspect of the disaster, in my opinion.
I'm interested in this parish because I spent a few days in Venice, LA many years ago. After searching for the last few days, these are the ONLY photos I could find of the devastation -

The buildings, the fiercely independent people and the land are gone - perhaps forever. All that remains is the Mississippi River and a road to nowhere.

People truly taking advantage of the situation should be dealt with harshly. By taking advantage I don't mean people taking food and water etc.
It's really easy to sit from our comfortable homes or offices and pass judgement upon these people who have been hit with something you've probably never even come close to experiencing - they have no way out, no stores are open. Granted they should have evacuated before the storm but not everyone was able.
People who are taking food, water, diapers, medicine or any essentials are doing what they need to do to survive. You'd do the same for your family if you were in that situation - I guarantee it. If you donb't have the ability to make those sort of dicisions and distinctions in a survival situation you won't be a survivor.
However - the people taking advantage, the idiots stealing TVs and other valuables are total fools who are lucky they haven't been shot by the National Guard - which is something I expect will happen (and in some cases rightfully so) - certainly that is what they should focus on -
but suggesting that people who are taking food and water are somehow criminal in a situation like this is ridiculous
"but suggesting that people who are taking food and water are somehow criminal in a situation like this is ridiculous "
I didn't suggest it. I simply pointed to the DUFUs and how they believe ANY and ALL looting should be allowed.

By the way, we went through Ivan, Dennis and flooding back in February. Wasn't half as bad as this but we did feel times of despair and desperation.
