Sorry I meant if it had hit New Orleans as a Cat 4 or Cat 5. I don't believe it was that strong when it hit the city.

I understand that, I also knew when I gave to the Red Cross then that what I was giving wasnt just for 9/11. It was a fundemental breakdown of communication on the part of the RC and they have paid dearly for it, but over the decades they have helped far more than they have ever hurt.

That would just be TOO funny. Failure to make obviously needed disclosures is just so Red Cross.

The Salvation Army is not a Catholic organization.

I also give to Catholic Charities.

"Judging by the map I think we will be in the basement a few more times tonight."

Glad you're safe and hope any other trips to the basement turn out just as well.

Signing off for tonight. Take care.

Sorry you are stuck there! It isn't a bad city, but when I first got there I cried (of course I was 7 months pregnant) and wanted to turn around and go back home (WA state.) I have fond memories of living there, but wouldn't want to live there, again.

Take care in the storm. When we were there in 94, a horrible tornado hit Germantown.

There are some pretty nice floating Casinos on the Memphis/MS line, as well. "Tunica, MS".

I don't doubt that many local RC chapters, and many individual RC volunteers are doing excellent and much needed work. But the American Red Cross as a whole just has too extensive a history of financial mismanagement and inappropriate treatment of disaster and war victims, to be on my donation list.
