The lack of solid information about the extent of Katrina's toll suggests that we are in for a hell of a shock once it's known.

All we can do is what our president asks, and pray.

Because the oil companies have to bring much of their supply from overseas. And if you cap the price, then Venezuela, the rest of OPEC, Russia, and all the other oil producers aren't going to sell oil to the US when they can sell it elsewhere and make more. It's called supply and demand. Mess with it and you get real shortages, depressions and famines.

Everyone, please, thank God that you live in the greatest
country in the history of mankind. Although, we are not a perfect society , in any sense, we have the technology to be able to warn our citizens of the inpending danger of these storms.

I know.

But Jim Cantore was broadcasting from Biloxi last night and stayed there.

Seems like he would have reported the Casino total destruction? I might have missed it.

An enduring memory for me, in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo in the Carolinas (1989), was the sight of dozens of crews from utility companies from Ohio, New Jersey, Texas, Kansas, Ontario, Florida, and elsewhere, working to restore power and other utilities for weeks after the storm came through.

If you live in areas unaffected by Katrina, and you have a localized power outage, please be patient, and remember that your local utility may have sent most of its workforce and equipment to the disaster area.

It has been gray all day. We had rain in Columbus area this morning. Some locations reported over 2 inches.

The bad news is all the rain we'll get from the remnants of Katrina has to flow downstream towards New Orleans.

Harrigan stayed in a different location... does anyone remember? But it seems that he was in the brunt of the storm.

Barbour is referring to D'Iberville. I also agree, he acts like he's heard worse news.

I clearly heard Harrigan say the Biloxi casinos on the coast are gone.
