Hurricane Katrina made landfall today at 6:10AM CDT, and she continues to drive northward into Mississippi and Alabama. Several local radar sites are down. Tornado and flash flood watches and warnings are widespread.
President Bush has declared major disaster areas, clearing the way for federal aid.

Exact same story I got from my father, he still did not appreciate paying for the coffee and donuts.

Check out a couple of people already out horse back riding in a flooded area. Trippy. This tells me there were thousands who remained in the city n other areas besides the dome who rode out this Hr'cane.
Theres no way the USS Alabama is missing. Its sitting same spot as it was yesterday. I would bet money on that. That storm did not move it.
So true...I even noticed Shep Smith was backtracking from his "oh, this isn't bad at all" attitude from this morning.
He seems to be in the one area of NO that didn't have major flood and wind damage.
I also think that Miss. and Ala. got short changed in the hurricane coverage - except for Steve Harrigan (I just love him) and Jonathan Serrie!
>>> Like I said, I don't know hurricanes, so it didn't occur to 0me that it could hit Georgia.>>>
Central Georgia here, just had a tornado pass a few miles up the road today. When Dennis came through a few months back, took the roof of the of the Atlanta Motor Speedway. We definitely get alot of damage out of hurricanes. Usually the spin offs.
It looks as if the "last resort" wouldn't have survived if the hurricane had, in fact, hit as a "5."
Haley Barbour coming up on Fox.
I am so sorry. Our children are on the Gulf and escaped with only lost of power.
that's what I thought I heard also.
Sorry partner but expect the worse, I am checking on Bay St. Louis. The surge was higher than any place in town.
It's also a matter of life and death in future natural disasters. If looting goes unchecked, many people won't evacuate in future disasters out of fear of their property being looted.
Rewinding Tivo, will check.
Amen.
That used to be covered in High School American History. At least, when I was there.
No wonder this country is in such a state. Ignorance abounds.
What did Gov Barbour mean when he said he hopes it's not as bad as Steve said? I missed the first part of his interview...
I'm here in downtown Atlanta. Heavy bands of rain coming through.
