August 28, 2005--In a hypothetical match-up for the 2008 Presidential Election, Democrat Hillary Clinton leads Republican Condoleezza Rice by six percentage points--44% to 38%.

Six months ago, Clinton was ahead by seven percentage points--47% to 40%.

The Rasmussen Reports survey also found that the former First Lady leads the current First Lady by ten percentage points, 47% to 37%. Laura Bush has never held public office and never given any indication that she could ever be a candidate.

Bush is viewed more favorably than either of the other women in this survey. Fifty-five percent (55%) have a favorable opinion of Laura Bush while just 27% hold an unfavorable opinion.

For Condoleezza Rice, the numbers are 43% favorable and 33% unfavorable.

Hillary Clinton is viewed favorably by 42% and unfavorably by 43%. The Hillary Meter has measured the New York Senator's efforts to move to the political center this year. Currently, 28% of Americans say they would definitely vote for her and 39% would definitely vote against.

I think Rasmussen is pretty reliable when it comes to polling.

Whole lotta attention paid on someone who won't even be the Democratic nominee in '08.

Usually, rasmussen is pretty accurate and tends not skew one way or the other. I would take these numbers at face value, but notice the undecided percentages. I would contend that HC is at the ceiling, but CR has room to grow.

Notice how this article doesn't mention the question that resulted in this answer?

We don't know if it was "Who's going to win the Presidency" or "Who's more likely to sleep with Satan".

I don't know about that, but maybe she will. The Dems are desperate to gain back the White House - even the extreme Left who hates the DLC and is not crazy about Hillary said they will vote for her if she gets the nomination just to get a dem in the White House again.

A bit premature; we're not even sure who the Repub candidate will be in '08.

Hillary would be toast if Condi is on the ticket in any capacity.

She could say bye bye to an overall woman's vote, and her likely choice for VP, who would be a SW dem who could deliver his state and the Hispanic vote, would be negated by Condi.

I hate to say this but from what I have been reading on the other sites that conservatives and moderates are on the Republicans are going to be split BIG TIME! I am hoping that is NOT the case!

Yeah, that would be terrible. We don't want to end up like the Dems are now, do we?

"Who's more likely to sleep with Satan".

I don't think Bill sleeps with either one of them, does he? :-)

Only in your dreams will they not nominate another Clinton.

Now, you know all of the reasons that you wouldn't, or I wouldn't, but they will.

I agree with you regarding the women's vote. But why would Secretary Rice negate the Hispanic vote?
