LOL...not that would be funny provided Harrigan doesn't go out again and get himself killed.

Also recall that the urban area of NO stretches 20+ miles from east to west, and the center of the storm passed just east of the metro, so the impact will vary greatly from one end to the other.

Oh man. I hope the US Army Corps of Engineers can get/keep the pumps online.

I wondered that myself. Maybe there are buildings that have covered walkways between them? [anyone?? that would be south of LP by his directions]It sounded like he was inside, there was no loud noise from the wind like many outdoor reports.

His report was very chilling. He said he had video and would try at some point to get it to Fox.

Oil patch country in SE NM -- someone's been reading the loss or refining capacity, hopefully very temporary, and already raised prices. I figured this was going to happen and filled up last evening.

The tornados will probably be occuring more inland as the hurricane progresses through the state.

Uh, dude, the mods asked everyone to drop the noise. I'm not going to respond to any more of these type posts and stick to posting news or responding to questions where I can answer them.

I'd appreciate it if everyone else would do the same.

Don't know for sure, but it may have something to do with the traffic log.....

The Oceanologist who spoke had been forecasting what would happen if a category V hit NO for some years...He was quite knowledgeable and apparently people in position WERE listening to him. He kept emphasizing that many of the shelters were NOT safe for the stronger hurricanes of if the levies broke, that to use them would just invite MAJOR catastrophes. He gave the statistics on how many people didn't drive in the city, the problems with transportation That it would take up to a week to evacuate ALL the people who needed help. He reiterated the generally "doom" that a Cat V would produce.......

Very knowledgeable and his voice sounded very shaky (almost in tears) by the time he finished.....Thank God his prediction did not come true and that prayers were answered....Maybe it will be a wake up call for NOLA.

Unfortunately the storm isn't even half way over for most, and for several days afterwards, the rivers will continue to grow with more drainage/flooding problems arising.
