Hats off to the FReepers who posted their prayers on these live threads before landfall and after, that God would somehow nudge the hurricane to the east enough to spare NO. Looks like, so far at least, their prayers have been answered.

Good for NO, but bad for Biloxi-Gulport though

How tragic. But they were told that no emergency vehicles would go out until the storm was through.

Can y'all PLEASE take it to another thread - start a joke/chat thread if you want? There's gonna be a flood of news coming out over the next few hours and we need to keep the signal-to-noise ratio up on this thread.

Yeah, this thread has been nearly worthless and a waste of time to scroll through.

Need one thread for hurricane news and another for children, asses and morons.

Can someone describe where this is?

I heard Jim Cantore in a live report a little while ago. He had been very busy helping to move the residents of the retirement home to a higher floor. He says everyone is safe.

I hope it is because that is what he wants to be doing. I think he is very good and will miss him.

Ditto and he's far better and more soothing than Bridget Quinn who loves the sound of her own voice. Frankly, I already miss him, especially when seeing Bill (CNN) Hemmer as his replacement.

ABC link worked fine, but I didn't like it, so I put on my live365 player and am listening to Celtic Melt...much easier on my nerves!

let me restate, many of the folks looked like Carville.

There was a report by an expert yesterday that snakes would be heading to high ground. He obviously knew what he was talking about.
