Doubt it, the Superdome will be repaired and up and running way before the Bowl games in January.

Tulane once had the largest purely steel structure stadium in the world...the original Sugar Bowl.

I saw the Saints there and got Gayle Sayers autograph...after the game

yes...they played Da Bears....and lost naturally.

Dempsey was still da kicker.

From ABC news stream: The fire alarm is going off in the Superdome. Seems like just a malfunction type thing, and more of an annoyance than anything.

125 people in the 9th Ward have had to climb up onto the roofs of their homes due to rising water.

This is why they told people who chose to stay to have a pick axe ready, so they could break out onto their roofs.

They do this on every station...It isn't just Fox that does it.

You're right. But I think it is irresponsible reporting. Especially when they devote most of their attention to the initial landfall and the real danger and loss of life is usually later. Plus Accuweather predicted yeterday that if Katrina moved east that the counterclockwise motion of the post-action will push Lake Ponchartrain into NO. I think people who stay to ride out the storms do so because they're thinking they can survive the initial hit. And most can--reporters do. It's the later problems that will get them. I would like to see more reporting done on that. I did find it yesterday, but it was tucked in between the dramatic coverage.

OTOH, fairly soon the winds will be westerlies, which could blow water out of the lake towards the Gulf, which would be a positive.

New Orleans is getting hammered and conditions are still worsening. I have an Aunt riding this thing out in Slidell and they are not enjoying things at all.
