I know! But when the wind and rain comes later today or tomorrow, the millions of self-pruning pecan trees are going to be everywhere. Add that to the detesible Bradford Pear's and we will have a mess on our hands.

Some guys on FR like the drama, even if it means bad things. They do not like to hear good news.

Do me a favor and shut up. I'm posting what I see on other websites as are other people. I'd like nothing better than this storm to disappear. If you aren't going to contribute to the content of the thread, just lurk.

Be careful interpreting radar images esp. composites like this one.

There is attenuation due to the fact that the radar cannot "see" through the heavy reflectivity along the north eyewall. I believe the some of the "gap" you are seeing on googles site is not real, but rather due to attenuation as radar sites to the north and east cannot accurately infer what is going on. The satellite imagery may be more reliable, given that all of the observing sites around NO are no longer reporting.

On the radio (WSB) here in Atlanta they just said "total structural damage in New Orleans"-- they are not giving a positive report at all.

After this ordeal is over, I can assure you that the French Quarter will be coming up with one heck of a drink called "Hurricane Katrina."

Zorak: (off camera) Whatch y'all doin'?
Thom Yorke: (laughs)
Space Ghost: "Y'all"?
Zorak: Yeah.
Space Ghost: Where'd you learn to talk like that?
Zorak: Hattiesburg.
Space Ghost: What were you doing in Hattiesburg?
Zorak: Kickin' it.
Space Ghost: Oh really.
Zorak: Yep.
Space Ghost: Well, that's interesting.
Zorak: It is interesting.
Space Ghost: Thom, is that interesting?
Thom Yorke: No.
Space Ghost: See, Zorak? We're not interested.
Moltar: (from control room, in his DJ voice, with funky background music) Well, I happen to think that it's very very interesting!

The question is if the flooding is due to heavy rains or levee breaks?

The Mobile Bay tunnel is short and well lit. The tunnels at Hampton Roads are another matter. For years I hava always thought that the terrorist would blow them up when I was in there, or that the car would stall.
