HEADS UP: There is an anti-war protest planned by the Westboro Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN tomorrow during a Soldier's funeral.
I first heard about it was from a chatter earlier today on MSN chat who was requesting help with bail tomorrow. I subsequently visited the church's website and found confirmation of their plans.
The chatter stated that the entire town would be turning out for the funeral and that people are "ready and waiting" for these protestors. He also stated that he wasn't sure the local PD would protect these protestors. I am hoping cooler heads prevail...
Here is the info on the planned protest copied from the Westboro Baptist Site:
August 28, 2005 1:30 pm 2:00 pm Martinsville, IN Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Rd., for funeral of Army Staff Sgt. Jeremy W. Doyle
Is that SICK or what?
These sick losers have no class whatsoever. They're so riddled with hate for themselves, they want to make as many people as miserable as they are. What a bunch of disgraceful low lives. No wonder no one wants anything to do with them.
My God, let the family and the American hero grieve in peace.
The Martinsville Police are aware of the protest.
They sure did!
Think the Indianapolis media will notice?
Good... TY
The Indy Star has been taken over by the liberals like the rest of the world. They fired some Conservatives a few months ago.
I dont think their liberals -- they're the rabid stink-bait from the right fringe
No responce from Indiana Freepers as of yet. Conservatives go to bed early here on Saturday nights and they roll up the side walks in Martinsville at dusk.
LOL... figured as much Earthdweller. It's pretty much the same in the area I'm in now. Most everyone is either at a bar or in bed! (o:
Thanks for your help getting the word out... Someone posted that the PD there knows about the protest, so I hope they've got something planned to keep it "civil".
I will be thinking of and praying for this man's family and friends tomorrow. I will also be praying for those who are planning the "counter-protest" - it's no use to ruin one's life over these jerks.
I will also be praying for the "others" but I'm not seeing much hope in them being "awakened" to the harm and hurt they are causing others... It shocks me that people could be so rude and disrespectful.
I myself am heading to bed for the night. Thanks again to everyone who passed the word...
"I will also be praying for those who are planning the "counter-protest" - it's no use to ruin one's life over these jerks."
Meaning the chatter and his buddies... I know FReepers know better. (o:
Intolerable.
(hope I remember this quote right)
"Gentlemen, we do not want war; but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here."
Okay, brain burp- was it the Commander of Fort Sumpter who said that?
Martinsville will probably laugh them out of town. They have huge debates between the Methodists and the Baptists out there.
They're picketing lots of funerals of soldiers! How sad!!
They are just as wacked as the liberals and the terrorists in my opinion.
I like to pick my battles wisely.
no, they aren't worth the time of day. unfortunately the family of the soldier IS worth the time of day, regarding your freep.
Isn't this the same "church" that's been protesting at a couple of soldier's funerals in Tennessee? They aren't protesting the war, they are showing up at the funerals to try to villify the soldiers for protecting the U.S., which they say is evil for harboring gay people. I was reading about them on Drudge. Apparently, the entire congregation of the church is nothing more than one extended family. Everyone is a relative of this Fred guy who is the "pastor" of the church.
With Americans like Phelps, who needs Sheehan?
Just before the opening shots of the Revolutionary War, at
Lexington, Mass. I think. Commander of the Lexington Militia.
