Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

Thats absolute BS, hurricanes cannot trigger an earthquake.
It isn't? I know you are reserching this. That graphic depiction of NO shown on the tube suggests that it is. Good morning.
My mother and grandmother hated the Red Cross, they gave
blood prodigously during WWII and when my grandfather required blood in England, they sent my grandmother a bill.
FWIW, I coulda' swore I had seen some coverage of it myself... but it was before my time anyway.
Dear God.
I remember seeing a documentary about that
They did, just after that storm. That makes it almost 30 years old. Not good.
the only buses the mayor mentioned - are taking people to the superdome.
many of us saying the same thing - the transportation effort is totally disorganized - plane flights cancelled, no buses, no military airlift - the only thing they are doing is saying "get into your cars". how many people are going to run out of gas in those massive traffic jams?
You're right. You can't stock enough of the stuff. After Hugo the brand and temperature didn't matter. Especially when we had to drive 50 miles to get it.
"Heard the NO mayor say that he "knew President Bush would send us everything we need."
And Jeb has to be going nuts watching the NO officials handle the situation.
Yeah, the airlines likely cancelled so they wouldn't lose money on the inbound empty planes. So if we paid them, they could have run flights all day today. No need for C5's and you would almost just do away with security screening probably.
And unlike a tsunami, if the pumps aren't working and/or there's nowhere for the water to gfo, the flood won't recede right away. NO could be under some water for quite a while. Which is another reason not to stick around.
My father and his buddies. My father is still alive and he blasts about this every time anyone mentions the Red Cross.
Yep, that's the story I remember seeing on "Storm Stories" as well. I don't recall it being a "Hurricane Party" though...
I hope you're not in a position to be advising people that, because it's not going to happen.
The behavior of some of these officials has bordered upon the criminal over this.
BTW, when my father and others pass away, the history will not change because they are no longer here to remind us.
God bless those who have gone to be with those frigtened people.
Is this nursing room in NO
