Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
EXCELLENT PHOTOS! In the top two pictures: which one is the rat?
River rat family rocks! See you in DC!
Cheshire cat grin :)
Re: tipping pro-american...
If I owned a restaurant, I'd print two receipts for customers Pro-cindy, and pro-Qualls, and ask the customer to choose which camp will get a small portion of their check donated to it at no additional cost to the customer.
Then you can see who's who, and how much they tip. If you wanna know.
Soul Seeker, your post is right on the money. The media is irrelevant....those who went to Crawford today, did so because they love their country, our troops and our President. I'm guilty...I've been so annoyed at Fox....but, you put it right into perspective. Better to do something postive and pro-active than be reactive and angry at Fox. Thanks for the wake up call.
LOL! Same was true in 1969.
Children whos parents are in Iraq made the flag
Pinging to THE THREAD, remember, we hate hippies (LOL).
Ok. I'm exhausted, my feet are blistered, my face is burned, my eyes are red and dry, my mouth feels like cotton, her hands are numb, I'm light headed, I'm hungry as hell....
.... and I'm glad. I did it because our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers and so many other loved ones have it SO MUCH WORSE just so we can enjoy the RIGHT to feel like rag dolls and collapsed puppets at the end of a day fighting for THEIR memories and THEIR future!
So, let me take a nap. Once I'm rested, you can expect photos from the greatest rally I have EVER seen. And as a special treat.... photos from inside the moonbat's peace house. Oh yes, we went there. Oh yes.
So, I apologize for the pending delay, but I am now going to pass out.
Will you ping me when you have them posted.
I have appreciated seeing all the pictures. Thanks.
See pics in post #2126! They caught a RAT and ripped his sign up! LOL
True but this was a support the troops rally and an anti cindy rally. The crowd initially knocked the signs out of their hands and they fell to the ground. The crowd was standing on the signs so they could not be picked up. The protesters left. I picked up the one sign and because of its size started to tear the paper from it and when I did the frenzy from others started, thats when the media started all the pics. The sign I tore up said" War never solves anything" in very large letters and in small letters "unless a democrat is president" . The signs took away fromm the moments that was on the stage at the time, real bad timing.
Please ping me when you post them - thanks
I think you are right about that. Wonder what happened.
Quick, before we miss out chance, someone pass out the soap and shampoo to the ditch residence!
I turned on my rock station tonight because I cannot deal with 2 hours of Natalee Aruba....
The FIRST song I heard was Edwin Starr's WAR!!! I kid you not!!! I just had to laugh....I remember singing along with it during the Vietnam war...but I was way to young to understand what was going on around me...
President and CEO, America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth
Marguerite Sallee was named President and CEO of Americas PromiseThe Alliance for Youth in September 2004. Americas Promise was founded after the Presidents Summit for Americas Future in 1997, where Presidents Bush, Carter, Clinton and Ford, with Nancy Reagan representing President Reagan, challenged the country to make children and youth a national priority. Retired General Colin L. Powell is founding chairman, and the current chair is Alma J. Powell. The organizations mission is to mobilize people from every sector of American life to build the character and competence of youth by fulfilling Five Promises in their lives: caring adults; safe places with structured activities; a healthy start; marketable skills through effective education; and opportunities to volunteer.
Prior to joining Americas Promise, Ms. Sallee served as Special Assistant to U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander as well as Staff Director for the Senate Subcommittee on Children and Families. It became the nations largest provider of workplace childcare, and she took the company public in 1997 (NASDAQ: BFAM). Ms. Sallee retired as CEO of the company, now called Bright Horizons Family Solutions, in 1999, and recently rejoined the board. The company is a $500 million enterprise employing more than 20,000 people and serving over 300 corporate clients at over 450 childcare centers in five countries. It has three times been named one of Fortune magazines 100 Best Companies to Work For.
Prior to founding the child care company, Ms. Sallee served in Tennessee state government where she developed and led then-Gov. Lamar Alexanders statewide four-year Healthy Children Initiative. She later served in the cabinet of Gov. Alexander as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services.
Ms. Sallee has received numerous awards and honors, including regional Entrepreneur of the Year, awarded by Ernst & Young. In 1994, she was named the first woman to chair the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition to Bright Horizons, she is a member of the board of Saks, Inc. (NYSE: SKS), chairman of the board of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), and a trustee of Washingtons Arena Stage, a leader in the regional theater movement.
